Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Weid  turns 24 mid season in 2021 and really must start to deliver the goods.  Hopefully with Big Ben Brown  and  LJ  there  he might  be able to chip in and take more marks which will help the cause..  If the weid  plays his role  then maybe  the confidence will start to flow again.

Big Ben,  LJ and  Weid    a new era and exciting times ahead.

Barely made it in 2020 and missed  anumber of gettable goals

a lot to like but needs to get involved more perhaps needs a good mentor or forward coach

He needs to also fix his lack of aggression, needs to own the forwardline and act like it. His confidence looked shot this year

An underwhelming presence inside forward 50 for much of the season. Ability is not an issue, desire and confidence certainly are. Doesn't get to enough contests, doesn't impact those that he does get to often enough, and misses too many easy goals. We have been patient, but he is no longer a young, developing player.

The impending arrival of Ben Brown is a real concern for me, as I see he and Weideman as very similar players who will want to be operating in the same parts of the ground. I wouldn't be surprised if we see Weideman head to defence at some stage in his career, perhaps as soon as this year.

Great once he was playing with LJ, really needs that support from another tall who causes concerns for the defenders. Unsure as to what SW and BB will look like, but here is hoping Sam doesn't just fade away and then goes somewhere else super cheap.

I really do feel if he was developed / coached correctly, he would be so much more damaging, but the neglect the MFC has for getting a genuine forward coach is bewildering.

Has most if not all the tools - self belief and genuine aggression are the two factors that I worry about with Weid

Has shown ability in brief cameos but really should be starting to impose himself on games from next year onwards

coming out of contract and looking for a decent payday might just be the spur he needs

He's 23 for goodness sake and been learning his craft at this level in an AFL team that's not exactly crash-hot in the forward delivery/spreading department.

He's all upside for me especially if we manage to create a restructured forward set-up this trade period. He'll learn (and grow) every year we hope. A definite keeper for mine. Not every successful forward needs to play like Barry Hall.

i like weideman. But i hate the fans opinions of him. Some fans say he is on the verge of being delisted(laughable) and then others say Goodwin needs to be applauded for the way he held him out of the team and needs to be acknowledged for his great coaching (laughable). The same fans then criticise Weideman for his drop off in form at the end of the year but then conveniently go quiet on Goodwins management of him.

So here it is, Weideman is a 2nd or 3rd tall entering his prime who has proven finals performances playing in a team with [censored] delivery and a coach who has no bloody clue at selection what a best 22 looks like.

He is a forward who gets his fair share of 'easy' goals which is what we need when we have guys like Fritsch botching chance after chance.

He's shown all of the traits required to be a good key forward, we just haven't seen them all come together yet. Takes marks, tackles hard and kicks goals. Tick, tick and tick.

Every key forward in the league misses goals they should kick; it's the misses that stand out in the memory. Weideman kicked 19.8 this year - his accuracy is way above average. His set shot technique is a massive strength IMO.

I think the opposite. In fact, I can't think of a single example of a key forward becoming less effective after another is traded in. Brown will make the Weid's job easier, not harder.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
