Phillips?

I think so. But I am hearing that it might just be a strange one from left field.

Personally I have trouble thinking it might happen but I will put it out there for reaction.

TMac paying 150K pa plus pick 18 for Phillips.

Would we trade 18 or 19 for Pies 2021 first rounder?

Considering Nick Daicos anticipated to go Top 5 next season

Doesn't make sense to me - Collingwood push out Treloar and Phillips due to salary cap issues and take in TMac (and pick 18) and pay 500-600k for him the next 2 years?

For us, it clears our salary cap... but that's only needed if we're bringing someone in.  Not sure if Phillips is a big enough fish to justify it?

Having said that, I think we need a winger badly - don't have faith that Baker is the answer so maybe this is the price?

Would have to be that and a bit more. Reckon they will drop big time next year

not a chance. why would we trade our future first for those 2 picks, to only send them back to the pies for their future 1st round.

Yeah, I don't like it. Phillips has been out if their team, he's not worth a first and a player, even if one is a salary dump

Because we keep one of them and I anticipate Pies will slide next season that's why.

Gets us back into next years forst round and I'm backing us to finish above the Pies in 2021

Change that to Treloar and I'd be happier. 18 I think is too much for Phillips giving they're trying to get rid of him. Guess Tmac balances that out to a degree.

Maybe, but I'd be disappointed if that's what it ended up being.

GWS have shown clubs they can match RFAs. Unless next year is for a UFA, we'll be in trouble

We're basically helping out Collingwood with their NGA whilst betting ourselves against a team that still finished top 6 this year. Doesnt seem like a very high reward. Pies wouldnt agree either.

Phillips has been ruled out by Mahoney..

It looks like we aren't landing a back up ruckman with 30 minutes to go in the trade period. We'll most likely pick up a delisted free agent. Could Sam (sauce) Jacobs be a chance with us next year? He was interviewed last week and mentioned he still has a year or two left in the tank.

Would love Treloar. Just sayin'...

Mahoney said they won't go for a backup ruck with Tmac staying on the list.

Think trade for a player must be a chance as why did they do the deal with the lions otherwise?

A mate with no contacts so just his idea that Jackson hasn't signed to extend his contract while Kossie & Rivers have so he thinks he's probably out the door end of next season in which case we'll get a first rounder or two for him. Plus rumours about Oliver wanting out won't go away so maybe 2 first rounders for him as well next year.

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
