Wow in what way ?

Just surprised. Could be the last final of his career. I’ve been there for my kids births and I didn’t do much. I’d hope my wife would understand and be ok for me to play

There is no way I’d have missed the birth of either of my children.

it’s just football.

You weren’t there to do anything other than to ‘be’ there (not just for the child).

He slung him from around the neck...that's where the damage was done.

He also landed awkwardly because of the slinging motion of the tackle...

I hear ya, it was a bad tackle. But by the rules the mro uses, there is zero chance of a suspension

Could not believe the pro St Kilda dribble rushing out of McAvaneys mouth tonight. Honestly, they were close to rubbish tonight. They have a lot of of very ordinary footballers. Max King.....couldn’t kick a goal if his life depended on it. Hannebery, too old and slow. Howard, there is a reason Port let him walk. Hill, rabbit in the headlights. Jones, may have a little bit more pace than his big brother but nowhere near the ability. Kent, well do I even need to say anything? Lonie, did he even touch the footy? This team fell into the finals because they belted up a few easy victims early in the year, then got the Dogs who were abysmal last week. If we don’t go past them next year I will be mightily [censored].

Bruce was horrendous, as is the norm these days. How was the passage where Max King got the ball in the last quarter, ran straight into the tackle and Bruce shot his load because he liked what he saw. The guy was pinged for holding the ball. It was rubbish. I remember him doing the same for a young Hawthorn player that took on a Melbourne player in the 2018 final and got caught holding the ball, but his focus was on how good the hawks kid was for trying to take on the tackle. He has lost the plot.

Yes. Conor Nash I believe it was. Played 2 games this year. A very dangerous game predicting that a team will continue their success the next year. Look at us 2019. People say the Saints recruited well this year. Well, how did that pan out tonight.

Cotchin tackle... would be 2 weeks for ANB

Yes, but his wife is big on instagram. If anything, should have been reversed.

What has happened to Billings? So much talent. Thought he broke out a couple of years back. Poor tonight and an average season

looks extremely soft and seems injury riddled. He looked pretty pacey as a draftee but looked very slow tonight. Not quite sure what exactly has happened but looks quite sad to see

See Tom Lynch just did his subtle dig the knee into the neck there.

The bloke is a gutless bustard. I hope Mitch Robinson gets to nail him as he promised.

Its just as much about supporting a partner through a major medical operation that carries with it very real risks of complication, as it is about simply meeting your 3rd kid.

Hope port are ready for the sniper tigs next week.

Port are snarky. Hopefully they'll give those snipers Cotchin-Lynch some of their own with interest.

Yeah I know it’s about support, I’m not a complete A hole :-). But if her mum for example could be there, then is it still worth missing potentially the highlight of your career? Speaking hypothetically now.

what if it was a grand final?

I am still hoping for a Power v Lions GF. Could relax and watch the game without giving a damn.

The original idea of the video review was for obvious/clear mistakes. Umpires call was the correct call by ARC

Looked quite clear to me and the commentators.

How long will Cotchin not get?

Bad tackle, should have been a 50 but I don’t see any justification for getting a week. He had his neck but let go so didn’t sling him all the way to the ground.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
