I'm sure some of you understand this much better than me because I'm just watching on TV from o/s, but:

It seems Trac  and Clarrie are happy to pass to each other etc., but about round 15, 16 or 17, I saw Clarrie bend to pick up the pill in congestion near a stoppage and Viney charged and grabbed it. I thought wow it seemed for 1/2 second that Viney selfishly fought Clarrie for the ball!?

I don't know there is a problem and hope there isn't, but if those 2 definitely can't work together, then I really hope we keep Clarrie and let Viney go if one must go.

I don't think Viney has much peripheral vision he is  just 'see ball get ball' hard as nails, but I think the others probably get a bit upset cos they see the game better... that's how I read it. Hopefully they get a few set plays or learn to work with each other so they all can shine in the middle

This is quite possibly (if there is one) the issue between Jack and Clarry. In terms of what it does for the team it most certainly is an issue because I could actually remember there was one point that I'm pretty sure our players would almost end up tackling each other to get the ball. It's great to see that hunger but it needs to be channelled better.

I think in most cases it would be a personality clash and nothing to do with the on field stuff

Absolutely, midfield coach has a the best ruckman and a gun young midfield to work with has to get them gelling better, I was shocked to find out we are no good in clearances

Agree my take on this is the frustration Clarry has with Vineys Rugby like tendencies and little else more. The way Im viewing this is

1 The fact that we should be tabling a mega deal for clarry in the vicinity of 800 + for 7 years and tie him up for life NOW. He is a much better player than Viney ever was or will be.Period

2 Unless the above happens and or we don't finish top 4 next year Clayton Oliver will be gone to another club. Nothing in  my mind is  more certain.?

Offer him 3 years on top dollar. If we're successful he'll re-sign and if not we should honor his wish to move elsewhere. Investing in someone for 7 years, even someone of Clayton's ability is too risky. and unnecessary imv.

So so glad you have no power in my club. You have worms in your brain on most things MFC related.

As an aside to all - what was the SOS ‘bombshell?’. I can’t find anything on it.

I know we keep hearing media people say that the Dees & Oliver's manager say it's a non-story but I wish we could hear it from the horse's mouth. Not necessarily Oliver but perhaps through one of those fluff pieces the Dees have been putting out every few days about some of the players.

Maybe a story about how Oliver saw Trac's dedication over the off-season and wants to take his game to the next level.

Sure it's a puff piece but the club must be aware of the "rumours" and this would be one way to put an end to them.

It might not satiate everyone but it's something.

No matter which side of the fence you're sitting on with this I think we can all agree that next year is crucial for the Demons and if we want to retain star players we are going to need to put runs on the board.

We need success to keep players and we also want to be an attractive "destination" club to opposition players.

We simply can't be just a "destination" club for dollars because then you can't retain your up-and-coming stars.

Would a photo of him having dinner with the Goodwins suffice?

It’s trade period. Its currency is rumor and gossip. Fact of life.  The club or his management start makings comments will just fuel the fire.

Best way to put this to bed is to announce he has signed a new deal. Kills the story stone dead.

True but he still has a year on his contract and perhaps her wants to see the direction we are going before putting pen to paper.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
