Would rather Phil Matera. That bloke always killed us ?

Sure did. Averaged 3+ goals a game against us - more than he did against any other club.

Ben Brown or Jesse Hogan? Who do you go for? It sounds like both would come relatively cheaply.

Good question! Lean towards Hogan because if he's not kicking bags he can still run and get up the ground but you do worry about those injuries.

Don't think Brown will be that cheap. Still a good player, despite the ridiculous hair and run in for set shot. Had a few issues this year, from what others have said here. Jesse is a spent force.

I think we should have a crack at Riley Collier-Dawkins. I know inside mid isn't what we need but this kid is a big body with legspeed and a heap of potential. If we're been bold and willing to let go of Viney or others we shouldn't be afraid to make a few offers.

Worst case scenario is it keeps Richmond honest and ups what they have to pay him.

Really remember we have Jacko!!!

Will alter  the whole Balance of our mids

You can't push him out the door and then expect the world for him.

Jesse may well be done.

Who the hell knows A F!

I don’t think Norf will trade Brown for less than late 1st or early 2nd. But they have certainly mistimed his trade value peak. Last year he probably would've got them top 10 pick.

A big if, but if he improves our forward line significantly, our pick 22 might get him. Remembering 22 will end up being about 30 with all the academy/fs/FA compo picks

I love the idea of a Hogan return but can you imagine Peter Bell allowing a fair trade value after spending so much to get him there?

Touring Brisbane today.

Supposedly it’s rubbish that he is touring Brisbane due to the hub restrictions.  Daniher would be out of the hub and therefore not allowed to meet with a team currently playing.

zoom tour?

I’d like to see us make a try for Alex Witherden from the Lions. Seemingly out of favour with Fagan. Would fit in perfectly to MFC as the small defender to replace Jetta.  He had excellent skills, good pace and composure.  Offer a nice 3 year deal and perhaps a pick acquired in a potential Preuss trade.

My preference is Lockhart to replace Jetta! Heart for heart!

Rumours about Jesse Hogan.

Less well known of Newton's Laws and one of the least useful of the 'universal constants' in physics.

I think @Demons11 had some mail around Jesse being available in one of the threads, any updates?

What are the rumours? Enlighten us all. There is that much stuff made up about players at this time of year, so why not just spell it out? Is it that you think he is coming back to the city of Melbourne

Haven’t heard anything since last week.  I’ll keep you updated if I hear something.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
