There is a bit of talk going around that this bloke could be on the trade table. Salary cap is bursting at Collingwood and they need to trade out a good talent to keep the likes of DeGoey and Moore.

Found this from Grimesy87 off bigfooty.

Dees having a very good chat to Stephenson's management...
Looks improbable so far, but one whisper is he feels left out at Collingwood

Three main 'forward' type targets have come up over the last few days.

Gunston

Wingard (I class him more of a half forward than a mid)

Stephenson.

If I had to choose, I'd go with Gunston right now.  I think Stephenson would want good money and the Pies would want something very good in return for him, which I don't think we can match right now.  Gunston to me is the most gettable of the three, and could not only add some class but also some Jordan Lewis like experience to our forward half.

Stephenson easily. He is a good young player. Things not right between him and the filth.

On talent and age, you're probably right.

But for what we can 'afford', and for what we really need, I still think Gunston would fit us better.

For what it's worth,  I can't see the Pies moving Stephenson on.

Excited to recruit him so the forum can all pile shizen on him for a 2 kick, 5 handball, 1 tackle performance.

He's a good player but recruitng small/medium forward is a dangerous burn of resources. Opposition teams quickly work out the type of player to stop them these days.

Stephenson i watched a bit of in his junior days playing for Ferntree Gully.  Was a real stand out.  At AFL level i think he has done enough to make any team interested.  My guess for him getting dropped is he was waiting for easy balls on the outside.  There is no issue with him going in hard from what i seen in both juniors  to AFL seniors.  He has exceptional pace and some real natural footy smarts, would love him playing for us!

I don't watch a lot of the pies but my sense was that he would get a lot of his goals from using his pace to get clear on the lead and being a reliable set shot.  Rather than someone that gets goals from crumbing and pressure acts?

Is that fair?  If so, I don't think that's what we want - if we can't deliver properly to our current forwards then he's not going to make a big difference.  If we could, I'd go after pace and skill in centre square and wings.

He actually gets a nice mix of lead up marks, but also natural instincts of roving off the pack.  Exceptionally quick off first few steps, you can see from all his highlight packages, he brings others into the game.

Getting Stephenson and Saad would get the tent up it's a yes from me.

It'd be a no from me, unless he came cheap; which he won't.

He's either going completely off the rails or he is one of the dumber people playing AFL football... his ofield decision making is seriously awry.

Prefer to go really hard at degoey. Absolute [censored] but a dead set gun

I'd much prefer we focus on tying Oliver and Petracca to long term deals than potentially sacrifice one of them for De Goey.
