The 4 points should go to May. A deadset one man fortress.

(But to be fair, Salem, Trac, Rivers, Langdon, Lever and Weed were also great ).

A lot of passengers, though. Which is disappointing, but also kind of promising - imagine who we can beat if they get involved!

The back line as a whole did a magnificent job.

The backline was incredible. We got shown up by the Dogs last week in terms of defending the width of the ground but we clearly lifted today.

May should get 3 Brownlow votes. Lever and Hibberd weren't far behind. Rivers played well too.

Some embarassing comments in the match day thread.

@Demonland can u pls pin the game day thread for some Sunday laughs.

Steven May trade is a massive, massive win

Rivers looks very good too

We've got a real player there in Rivers.  Love his dash and courage, and he is a good user of the footy as well.

Trac - love love love ? All hail the chief of the back line Steven May. So good to beat St.Kilda ?Happy happy joy joy.

I’ve aged 3 years watching that. Nerves. Rage. Disgust. What a rollercoaster.

Same

Don't want to hear another word about the trade for May, i think his performances over the season and especially tonight have justified the pick 6.

A trade special.

And, if you go back and take a look, some shockers in the changes thread as well.

That was a big tick for Goodwin tonight.

Charlie Spargo, did little all game then laid the tackle of the match

Very happy, just a strange game and not used to seeing us win like that.

Yes i 100% agree.

Was impressive to be able to stop Aints scoring and actually rebound and control the game.

Lucky I went to the bottle shop and stocked up today.   Ugly game,  take the win,  turnover still a massive issue

First time under Goodwin that we executed a specific gameplan for a specific side. Some horrendous turnovers as we tried to implement a possession game with our skill set, however that was a confidence builder. Reminded me of what Geelong did to us. Denied the oppo their 1 wood first and foremost

Big step - when was the last time we reversed the momentum and got the game back on our terms and won an arm wrestle? Probably 15 years.

i thought we were going lose by 5 goals about 5 minutes into the 3rd quarter.

Tough game to  watch in the last quarter however the Dees  did it for all of us supporters.

May and Petracca  were the two best players on the ground and couldn't split them.

I want to give some credit to Josh Wagner he was consistent all night and he can hold his head high. Well done Josh.

Credit where it us due. That is 3 close games we have prevailed in - blues, suns and saints.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
