Broken record, really out coached, up to Jones' brain fade we were playing really well. Sick of hearing out coached rubbish. Get a new record !

Steele has been let to do what he likes. The Saints have clamped down on all our midfield. We consistently give away undisciplined 50s. It gets down to coaching.

Jones should put his hand up not to play next week.

What he should be doing right now is putting his hand up to earn that goal back in the second half.

Nonsense. The players did it. Cooked chicken.

Please explain to me who teaches these muppets to tap the ball to the open side of the pack and have nobody defend it? Because that Steele goal at the end is the same [censored] I see week in week out. If it’s not the coaches who set this up, then our players deserve to be sacked for not following instructions.

Up until the horrible turnover, Jones had actually been playing quite well.  Wagner hasn't been too bad either.

I'll give you Vanders, though.  I'm a fan but he's done nothing tonight other than setting up our third goal of the night.

Both have been shocking. Jones' lack of pace causes him to retreat and turn defensively when he gets the ball and he should be going forward. We have to many average users to be playing this chip it around the backline style as when the time comes to pull the trigger very few are capable.

Players aren't allowed to make errors. Because you know... just cause.

Plenty of moments to redeem himself.

2 tackles in the 2nd qtr, bruise free footy, all Hollywood or nothing, same old dumb mistakes. Doesn't help having Richo in the box either!

Surely it's both.  The set up wasn't good, but why is Gawn tapping it to that empty space?  It's not smart football with 30 seconds left.

How the [censored] is a dumb kick by an experienced player and concentration lapse from the mids a second later Goodwin fault!!!

ffs the anti-coach cult on this site [censored] me.

I've been a strong Nathan Jones supporter but jeez that shocker changed the game.

It changed when Melky completely chit all over his leg and turned over his kick into 50, Jones just made it smellier.

We have kicked accurately, that is the only positive from that half. We are getting smashed and I think once the game opens up we will get steam rolled.

It opened up the last 5 minutes and no surprise the Saints kicked 3 goals

Listening to Jordie Lewis on fox footy they were talking about the important Saints ball winners and he said, “Melbourne don’t have a tagger if an opposition player gets off the leash” I just thought, “actually we do but he has been played in the wrong position and dropped for form”.

Harmes as a tagger IS A WEAPON. But we have botched his development and turned him into a useless half back player.

Could not be scripted better for the Coach the players and the Club. Slender lead, opposition ascendancy and a season defining game on the line. I, an average footballer would take that as a challenge and would welcome that position as a coach.

Career ending

How our players don’t even know the rules (50m penalties) is a complete failure on the coaches. Every week our oppos get free shots on goals due to dumb 50s on the wings. 1-2 goals it costs us a week

Jones had 5 turnovers from 10 disposals. He is done Wagner other than a couple of early fumbles has been solid. AVB hardly spotted.

Our midfielders needs to start getting their hands on the ball or their player if second to it.

On the positive side we have a lot of players who can play a lot better this next half.

That squibbed mark early on in the second quarter was costly, put two hands up and take the contact if it comes. Jones’s late kick was disgusting but that kick was a beauty and should’ve set us up for a shot on goal.

Squibbed mark what the [censored] are you watching Jones kicked it 5m wide and 5m high under no pressure on his wrong foot

Clarry tried to make the best of an awful situation he had no right to be in

I think the second half will come down to coaching lets see if Goodwin has any answers

I don’t know. Why does this happen every week? Because it’s a rinse and repeat pattern. Are our players really too stupid to follow instructions? Are they deaf? Poorly coached? Blind? Dehydrated? Drunk? I mean really I’m an unfit 34 year old who has never played footy in her life and I can see it. Why can’t they? Whoever they are?

3 minutes of I dont know what and all our efforts down the Crapper.

Goody needs to address the centre clearance differential. At this rate we will get hammered.

Couldn't agree more.

If anything, Goodwin has showed that he can put a plan in place.  The slower ball movement meant we were playing the game on our terms and we were well in control.

Then we gave away a free kick, had a horror turnover and then stunk it up in the middle.  That's 100% on the players.

This is the bit where Ratten’s plan E destroys Goodwin’s plan A.

I won't argue that Jones should retire gracefully at the end of the year, but I don't think he's been THAT bad (outside of that absolute shocker of a turnover).

Rubbish, we had a 14 point lead on a side no one expects us to beat with 47 seconds left.

This isn't coaching, this is player errors.

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.
