Need more from Spargo and Pickett, much better quarter though.

Goody should be in their ears at HT, telling them to put the first half behind them and concentrate on manic pressure than posies this half.

VDB needs to start hitting bodies hard, give us some more presence around the ground

I think after today’s game it’s time to rest Pickett and bring in Bennell to play small forward. Pickett doesn’t give us enough.

Pruess 18 hitouts to English 5.

And we're losing clearances

Is Tracca being tagged? Need a big second half from him.

I can't see the game today and just saw the stats esp midfield . Can someone please explain how on earth we are ahead?????

1 Steven May.

2. When we do get it on the turn or a clear stoppage win we look likely to score.

3. Steven May

The Fritsch magnet!

The club should putting orders in for 2021?

Hunter has to be stopped. I think Jones would have had the job on him today. Maybe give Sparrow that role and just tell him not to move off Hunter.

Clear improvement that quarter. The ball spent far more time in our forward half and we were developing more scoring chains.

But we're still not playing all that well. Missing kicks, tackles not sticking, and their best players are getting too much of the ball.

Beveridge in his HT interview was scathing of English. They've clearly put a lot of effort into the ruck and stoppages, whether it's the tactic of using Dunkley or how they shark Preuss.

Looked like it but started to shake it off in that last 10 min

Would have had Steven May at 2 as well

Once the clearances evened up that quarter, we comfortably had their measure. Dogs have an elite midfield so have to break even in this second half. In the arcs, Melbourne is clearly superior.

He was very close to two crumbing goals in the first quarter.

I feel like so much of Pickett is "very close". Every game he looks like he might erupt but never seems to happen.

Not sure Bennell can play that role. Speed and defensive pressure regrettably not Bennell's strong suits so far this year.

I can't stress just how bad Tmac is

We simply can't play him next week

I don't care who it is as long as it's not him

Tmac is done - the coaches have to see it surely

He has trouble one-grab marking, field kicking (set shots are good), very slow, wide turning circle, not a natural tackler, his handpassing is far from elite and his ruck work is average.  I hope he is not soaking up too much of our salary cap.

I think Tmac is playing a really good team game. He is providing a contest all over the groun d as well as holding his own in the ruck. So be fair.

This goig to be a context between how effective Viney is cf Liberatore. Viney is at last breaking out of packs rather than running in circles. AN extremely tight contest.

Even young Bedford as well.

Hannan's pick up off the ground and blind handball ?

He's not far away. Will be back for the Freo game, potentially the Swans one.

He has to hit the scoreboard when the opportunities come up. He had two chances early and muffed them both

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

  • REPORT: Richmond

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
