He’s not on his Pat Malone mate.

Exactly. But he is a current captain out there.

He just [censored] balance out in the midfield. Get him out of there and get Petracca in there.

No one is on him.

He is a smart footballer.  They just showed Libba flicking him a handpass on the outside - Sparrow got sucked in to the contest, which we do way too often.  The bloke knows where to position himself and we need to be better in this regard.

I know it’s early days but we all know when we don’t turn up switched on, we don’t win.

73/27% time in forward half. Losing CPs, closing clearances.

This is not how we want to play (Goodwin said before the game we want it to be in our forward half, Mahony just now in an interview said it's not how we want to play).

That's this teams biggest problem. We don't know what to do when the game is not played on our terms.

Get the ball out wider once we gain possession and play a shorter kicking game where possible with this fickle breeze

Viney needs to start having some awareness and do the team thing

Quit taking on every single bloke

Viney has no pace and can't hit a target so please go in hard and then give it off

We are putting zero pressure on them in our forward half.

hope AVB gives the team a lesson how to pressure and tackle at Q time

I accidentally read that as ANB and it takes on a different meaning.

WWEEEEEEEEEDDDDDD!!!

FRITSCH = SOFT

Yep, seems afraid of his own shadow. Does nothing most games, except a few behinds before snagging one late.

But who do you bring in?

Great pick up from Hannan, and super finish from Weideman in the conditions.  Love the confidence to kick it!

6 inside 50s for 5 scores.  At least we are being efficient.

Hannan you legend.

Can't argue with this guy's attack on the ball.

Classy goal from Weid.

Downfield was a joke. Ball had not even touched the boot.

Just had to check the AFL rules to make sure I wasn't mistaken. They say the free kick can be awarded where the incident take place or where the ball is. Considering they were both the same spot it shows that the umpire literally didn't know the rule. For me that's worse than most regular mistakes

when playing footy the first thing to learn is how to kick the [censored] thing ,guess our players skipped that page in the instructions

Beautiful pickup by Hannan and great goal Weed

Well done Hannan

I wish they would stop calling Pruess a makeshift ruckman

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
