Sportsbet Demons $1.90  Doggies $1.90.

Genuine 50/50 match. Result depends on which side is switched on ...

Demons ... please don't cough up a goal in the first minute or 2 ... it could be the margin at the end.

Huge drift.  I wonder what's making the punters jump on the bulldogs?

Yeh it's a bit concerning. You don't generally see a drift like that in a head to head market which makes me think that there might be a significant late change or MFCSS has kicked in and we're all laying off on the dogs too

We've drifted in the betting last 2 quite a bit, so i'm happy with this.

We usually lose when we are favourites in these games anyway.

Load up!

I think Collingwood started favourite last week, so today probably based on Max missing. Dogs been very inconsistent this year.

Recall Demons cleaning up the Dogs in 2018 at Marvel/Etihad, am hoping we do the same today.

Feels like tough game to call, we need to keep pressure on for four quarters and keep running! The last few weeks, mids and Even Jones have run both ways, plus mids also breaking free going forward with Much better decision making!
These few breakthroughs in how we are playing make us a much better team, and provided we perform at same level today, I think we’ve got the Dogs!!

Loaded up last week and got stiffed. North Pacific into Showmanship into Dees under 39.5. Never been happier to do my money!

I think the Hawks were favourites too and we pumped them.  Demons 40+ it is.

All dates from team selection last night.  Dogs ins are good, Gawn didn't get up, English did.  Hitherto nervous Dogs fans piled in.

Been a while since we were in a game of relevance like this. We have what it takes now go get it done!

Time for this team to show they can be a consistent winning side, no excuses today, get it done.

FWIW, its a mild, quite windy and overcast day here on the Goldy.  Very slight chance of a shower but the ground will be dry and conducive to good footy.  Will suit the speedsters like Langdon and Kozi but also Johannisen.

Probably best Dogs team this year. It will be very tough.

Dogs have some good running ball users in Daniel, Hunter, Smith, Macrae etc. We need to apply lots of pressure all over the ground or those types will cut is up on the outside.

Keen to see Spargo vs Daniel - battle of the AFL midgets!

Not sure how the wind effects us today

Pro: We have more avenues to goal so that's a plus, could be a high turnover day

Con: Our kicking skills may desert us and could be very costly on turnover.

i'm confident and nervous at the same time, felt like this vs Port.....

Oliver ,  Petracca  Brayshaw  Viney   and the help of  Langdon    .... All over the Doggies!    Game over.

Another great 'Before The Bounce' by Gibbo today. If you haven't watched it; jump on even to just to hear Jones talk about his support of the Indigenous boys, speaks really really well on it. I might be reading into it, but you just get the feeling that Bennell is already a bit of a leader in a way at the club.

Another 4 quarter effort like last week and we’ll get this done.

Unless their score is larger than ours at the end (channeling @Ethan Tremblay)

Spot on. Four quarter effort, kick more points than them and we should win.

Full strength highly talented Dogs line up will be our toughest test for the rest of the season IMO.

My thoughts,    very even game,  both sides at their best, fantastic,  I think we shade them in the midfield overall,  our backs at least equal to their forwards.

and I think our forwards can shine on a dry day,  about 10 points a quarter better side Demons,

if we are switched on and play the four quarters.    Betting shifting has no effect on what happens ob the field, unkless you are playing Carlton or Collingwood and they  are betting their trip away money,

Go Dees

Can Bartlett please come and give the boys a quick spray?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

  • GAMEDAY: Essendon

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
