Just what's needed.  A pump up article before an important game.

I’d really appreciate a PM of the article text.

cheers

Received and appreciated Fella’s.

I got a sneaky feeling he’s too good a player at the moment to get sucked into media street.

(now watch him battle for 8 possessions and 2 behinds tomorrow)

Wouldn't it be great if the "little paper" was banned from Qld.

Yes, yes, I know about electronic editions. Not sure why anyone would bother .

Seen a few people on Twitter tonight mention the Footy Record curse. It got another scalp tonight in Port Adelaide.

I’d like a similar study done on Demon 2 full page spread in the Hun and the correlation with performance that round. We never back it up.

No......... this is a different  Christian Petracca where he knows  and can play the game at an elite level as he is starting to do.

Bring the game on IMO Petrac will be at it and don't forget the confidence is high with his partner in crime being  Clarry. They compliment each other.  We have an elite midfield  now that Petrac has taken the next step .

Petrac might not like to be compared to Dusty or being known as arrogant by others but it comes with the package l believe.

EG  Dangerfield comes across as a Figjam  however l wish that he played for us being such a great player same as Martin .is.

Christian can handle the pressure  and what comes with it.   Might be interesting to see if he can handle a tag.

Looking forward to seeing how far he can take his game to.

To me as well, if not too much trouble.

I really don't see the point in posting articles most of us can't access. At least not without a summary of contents.

The fact that no one has posted a summary is pleasing - it means very few subscribe to that Murdoch crud.

Thanks to those who pm'd me the article

I love it he is such an honest player without being obnoxious. I love the fact he is using meditation/mindfulness hopefully he sets an example for the rest of the side to follow as I think this has been one of the keys to the Tigers recent success.

Didn't Roos and wife have meditation/mindfulness for the players during his time at the club?

It showed in his first half...was on "media street". Tried to do way too much.

...but settled in the 2nd.

Agreed. Massive Hollywood vibes, but the mark and goal he kicked were class.

Just needs to focus on doing his thing and try not to get swept up in the hype. He's had a great season so far, but is overrated IMO at the moment. The commentators last night said 'how good was Petracca' after the game, but really there were a few others ahead of him last night, namely Oliver, Langdon and probably even May.

Despite all this, it's good to have a bit of hype around a few of our players. Makes them marketable and can attract sponsors.

Hope Trac keeps focusing and working hard on what's made him a much better player in the last year or so.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
