Go Saints.   We would pull even on points with Geelong if they lose tonight and we beat the Pies.

And Im sure we all wanna see Geelong miss the finals in general anyway.

I hope our coaches are watching the Cats vs Saints game.

Cats spent the first 5+ minutes playing kick to kick as they did vs us.  But the Saints were able to get the ball from them.  'Learnings' there for us.

pies have rested moore and reid for the crows, lost four more to injury and brought bad the great man lynden dunn for his first game in two seasons

Go the Crows !!!

I reckon the saints are more likely to slide down the ladder. So I’m ok with the cats winning.

Saints are majorly overrated

Both Saints and Geelong have a good percentage. Whoever wins let's hope it's a thrashing

Saints are yet to play the Eagles Brisbane and the Giants. They also play us, Bombers and Hawks... Interesting possibilities

They might have been third but it Wouldn’t surprise me if the saints miss out on finals. No gun tall fwds, inside midfield can be beaten. Play keepings off and they fold

Time to mow down the Saints.

Saints getting belted. Lovely. Wouldn't surprise me to see them tumble out of the 8 with the run home they have.

Hawkins 5 goals straight

Saints dropped 12% and are now only 2% above us.

Saints total pus tonight. Great to see.

Who knows what to make of this season.

Saints have looked a million bucks recently, and then turned into a 2013 Melbourne side tonight.  They didn't kick a goal after half time after smashing sides these last few weeks.

Do we rate the Cats?  I feel like they could fall off a cliff as well.

If we can keep winning games then we can play finals.  It's that sort of season.

Just sent a txt too a saints mate who’s been at the game, and has been getting a bit cocky about them.

“Hey “mate” the Dee’s kicked 4.8 against port up there and got beat by 51..........Dee’s and saints game should good”.
 After siren.
“your mob kicked 2 more behinds than us but got beat by 59..........Dee’s by 6”

No reply yet.

Have saints played West Coast yet??

Are you sure? That is a pretty novel concept.

Yes, on second reading that's a pretty poor sentence.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that, normally, by this time of the season the eight is pretty set.  But I don't think it is this year.  Teams are more prone to losses, and in some cases big losses, and if we can hold our nerve then we can knock someone out of the eight as the season progresses.  That's what I was trying to say anyway.

This season is entirely in our own destiny. But we have to beat Good teams, there are no excuses, all sides are playing off short breaks.

Stuff St.Kilda. Inconsistent at best.

Hope Freo beat the hawks.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.

The Demons return to town fresh off a thumping win over the back-to-back wooden spooners, the West Coast Eagles, played in front of a sparse crowd at Marvel Stadium, the same venue that hosted last week's heartbreaking loss.
