NON MFC: Round 07

The Dogs best footy is very good, while I don’t like the Dogs very much I love anybody beating Essendon. I hope it continues

Interesting that the commentators didn’t say much negative about Essendon during that quarter. If it was us they’d put the boot in. I guess they don’t want to offend their large number of fans.

Bruce's gushing commentary was next level last night.

He's not doing much better tonight. His gushing is towards the first gamer Weightman and "Duck, Duck, Duck ...."

Perhaps he could look at the replay and report back how many times he said "Duck" in a quarter? In which quarter did he say "Duck" the most? What was the longest interval between saying "Duck"?

What a great quarter by the dogs. English has been great. Just hope they get another roll on, thrash the bummers and the bummers lose valuable percentage.

I wanted him over Pickett in the draft when the word got around that we were after a small forward in the first round.

Time will tell, but hopefully both will be guns and provide X-factor for the fans.

Progress report;

Weightman X, Pickett 0.

Came here expecting this and there we go. Assuming it's a joke.

No joke. He has the goods.

Time we had some "truth in broadcasting"

1. Location of commentators

2. Crowd noise.... real or supplemented

And while we're at it gt rid of Bruce and BT. Bruce has notes a la his old Olympic days about favourite players. It's boring.

I don't need them to tell me "he kicks the ball forward" etc etc

"CLEVER"

Bruce gushing over a bloke with four touches for the night because he 'covers the ground'.

I've heard it all now.

Thankyou Bulldogs!

Big old dent in Essenscums percentage on top of the loss.

Has Bruce ever given ANB that kind of love he is the master of those games.

Essendon's percentage dropping by more 15 and going back down under 100, and likely dropping out of the eight, is always a welcome part of any round of football.

It's a note on the sheet abotu how long scoring this season has been, too.  Our percentage may look pretty rough at 87% but that is still only a 40 point margin.

Geelong's spot on the ladder is largely the product of their one good smashing... of Hawthorn.  Looking forward to us taking out turn!

Aah what a great 2nd half of footy to watch. Bummers lose a lot of % and drop a couple of spots. Sweet start to the weekend.

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
