Is Sparrow with the squad? Im guessing not: we left 12 behind and only 13 haven't played a game this year.

Pretty sure I saw him in one of the club videos from Manly.

We saw improvement and a change in mindset - that is all you can ask

Viney - better

Oliver - kicking more and trying to lower eyes

AVB - getting match fit and scaring the bejesus out of opposition

Lever - taking a few marks and gaining confidence

Fristch - kicking straight

My attempt at an unemotional dot-point response to tonight’s game:

Was a surprisingly good game.

Omac lol – was our defensive structural pin. I love when I don’t notice Omac.

Points to collective Demonland. Lever and May enabled to play to their strengths.

Shame about TMac at the opposite end. I liked him pushing up again.

Weid still flakey but enough to persist with as a second-fiddle.

Prefer Hannan and AVB cameos to Melksham’s. The latter has to go.

Petracca fluffed his kicking lines but his extraction and handballing was supreme.

Trac out-olivered Oliver but Oliver still goes alright in his determination to win contests.

Bennell – collect the ball and compose. He stands out among the rest.

Also Pickett. Uber-Spargo. A smart hungry footballer with natural skills.

What a perfect ending – Pickett precise pass to Bennell for an after-siren goal.

Liked watching Rankine. Liked also that he missed two crucial shots at the death.

Viney was strong. Langdon gave a lot. Gawn took some marks.

Some of the umpiring felt ‘uneven’ at times. My internet data held onto the narrow end.

Yes he is.

Kudos to the demon fans who were shouting from the stands.

"He's been doing it all night" was gold in the first 5 min.

Weid was huge in providing a contest, that kick has been a straight turnover the past few weeks, he relished his opportunity and must be a lock. Kicked truly.

After a horrible return a couple of weeks ago, that was peak Vanders, needs to keep backing that up to prove why he's in the 22.

Viney was channeling his inner Dee Dee Ramone and was all revved up and ready to go.

Trac with probably another BOG performance. Hands sublime, kicking a bit rough but put it through when it counted.

The four inclusions all played their role, Demonland knows!

Im wondering who got left behind then? My guess was the following 12:
Kolodjashnij
Jordon
Nietschke
Baker
Petty
Chandler
Wagner
Wagner
Bradtke
Hore
Sparrow
Dunkley

But if Sparrow is there, someone else stayed (Preuss, Bedford, Spargo?).

Moment in the first quarter where I seriously considered turning the sound off: TMac is on haunches on the turf with his eyeball on the ground in front of him. Jonathan Brown, while watching the slo-mo: bit of a delayed reaction there.

One day they’ll raise the standards in the commentary box beyond intellectually deficient oafs who were good at footy when they were young, but it clearly hasn’t happened yet.

Bedford and Pruess were left behind. Source: Instagram

Pretty sure Jordon is in Manly too.

Rankine looks like a potentially great player but lucki he cant kick a set shot.

He also seems like an arrogant little [censored].

4.0 to 1.4 in that last quarter

Where did such luck come from ????

To be fair Gold Coast pulled four goals out of their back passage.

Rankine *2 and Ellis *2

So Melbourne were due a little luck.

Umps nearly killed us

They tried their best. Totally inconsistent. Ignored several holding the balls in front of our goals in first half and then plucked them continually for the Suns .

If our fixture as has eventuated originally came out scheduled as such we're probably sitting right where expected, at 2-3, almost down to the margins. Loss to West Coast away, closer margin-call losses to Geelong and Richmond, and possibly narrow wins over the Blues and Gold Coast. I would have penciled in a win against Hawthorn whenever we were due to play them, but as litmus test.

I thought they put lots of pressure on us and Langdons run and speed made a huge difference.

Bennell showed his class and AVB is getting back into form. Good signs.

Some key takeaways:

Hannan  - 8 possessions - 4 score involvements - great 8 poss game

Oliver - the most pressure acts for Dees and 2nd most on ground.

Trac - had a good night let down by some poor decision making - but showed maturity - worth more than anything.

OMAC - solid as a rock and all we need him to be.

Viney - you can questions lots of things about him but never his competitive spirit. Him and Max HUGE

Lots to like, started at selection, Kicked 10 plus goals and looked at times like a really good side. Confidence will be the biggest thing we take out of that.

The team just looked more balanced tonight with weid and o mac (dare I say it). Bennell and kosi adding the class and dash.

Very concerned about levers future in this team.

Next week is very interesting.  If it goes back to vs richmond we know where we stand.

Good win to keep season alive but heaps to work on and to many players still out of form

Mine not quite, had to scrounge my husband’s hotspot

OMAC  well done.Held your own well.

Weid it was good to have a focal point did his job.

Hannan composed and clean.

Vandeberg that's how you play crash and bash fantastic game smart as they come.

Viney delivers and shoots down his critic now to back it up.

Great win worked hard but a win is a win that is going to give us confidence.

He looks really good does Bennell. and deserves the last goal of the match. Love the way they got around him.

Love the Dees! What can l say. Will make my week better.

thought our forward and midfield pressure was a big improvement this week. that combined with Weid providing a contest inside 50 allowed the defenders time to push up and lock it in our forward half at times. something that hasn't really happened too much this year.

Yes missed 4 gettable set shots but then nailed 4 blinder snapshots from 40m or less out the back of packs. Realistically they could have missed 3 of those 4 so we win well. But gee they played well and will be a force to be reckoned with in the next few years.

Maggot 16 seemed to have it in for us. Nonetheless, we have a pulse - and “with a game in hand”!

Baby steps, but everyone knows how important these are for belief and self-confidence.  First game in a hub, first win in a hub .....

U are of course facetious. But I noticed that with 10 to go and scores level he moved May to CHF. In other words trying to win the game rather than hold in defensively. It shows he hasn’t lost both courage and enterprise. Woukd have been slaughtered if it had  lead to a loss
