Would ya take a punt on Paddy?

Agree. Also not writing Weid off.

Would prefer what we have, than take a punt on a fragile Paddy.

Highly doubt he is over his concussion issues, though I'm not a doctor.

He had treatment in America and is feeling pretty good at the moment but family think he won't be back.

Ok, Paddy Mc Cartin says the fire still burns. He's a free agent. Do we try to get him on the list ???

i'd have to say its a pass from me.

I think he can be a good player, but like others have said we have too many injury plagued players on the list as it is. and besides I reckon we could have T.Lockett playing down forward and we'd struggle get 40 goals out of him a year with our dodgy forward structures and poor kicking going inside F50.

I agree dd.

McCartin reckons he has overcome his concussion issues and is looking for another chance. Wants to resume with St Kilda, but with the season up in the air, would you punt on him if an opportunity opens up in some form of mid-season draft.

We are lacking a KPF. There is no way TMac is getting back to his best. Steven May would be a better forward candidate atm.

Anyhoo, would ya?

I reckon we are still building as a list... we are in a better position than for a long time, but we are still short of top quality.

Tmac, Weide and Brown are OK for the moment, and I think Weide will develop,  but we aren't at patch up position with spare parts yet.

Yes we can recruit mature players,  but I don't consider Paddy has even arrived,  let alone mature.

For me,  its a top shelf player, or its the draft,  to keep on building.

Bennell was worth the risk,  because we had no one as a small forward who was QUICK.

I’d entertain the idea. Back in the 2014 draft I was hoping the Saints would choose Petracca or Brayshaw and therefore allowing us to take McCartin. Had a gut feel he’d be a champion forward. Has been crueled by injury.

We also need to bolster our forward line and Paddy could be an option. A far better marking option than Weid.

We don’t have a good forward line and we can’t rely on Melksham and Fritsch to kick 8 between them every week. They were both disappointing in round 1 as they only contributed 1 between them against WC. However, they will be much better against lesser teams and lesser defenders.

As for T Mac, we all bagged him after round 1 but he still managed 2 goals on the back of a poor performance against pretty much the best side in the league. That suggests to me that he would’ve been on track for a solid 50 goal year if the season went 22 games. To T Mac’s credit he’s a very accurate shot for goal and makes the most of his chances unlike many other forwards around the league.

Just on T Mac, he showed that he cannot hold a contested mark to save his life atm. So unless that turns around, our bomb it long game plan won’t suit him. He has trampoline hands, the likes of which have not been seen since Chris Dawes left the club.

We’ve thrown a lifeline to Harley, given KK a chance, kept persisting with AvB. We can’t keep on recruiting players with bodies that need fixing.

I wish him all the best, can’t help but be a little concerned for him though. He’s got his whole life ahead of him.

McCartin has other health issues as well: I understand: he is diabetic and needs insulin injections regularly. That together with the spectre of concussion hanging over his head (no pun) makes for a too risky prospect I believe. As far as I can remember his only good game was against us in 2018 (opposed to a very immature Harrison Petty)!
And don’t forget Petty was showing a bit of ability up forward last season and we have young Jackson to debut if ever the football season starts again.

Here's a career comparison with Weid

Quick answer. Nearly the same.

People saying we should get him because Weid is no good haven't seen enough of McCartin play. He has never been good. He never got past the diabetes let alone the concussion

Well, surprise surprise.

A constantly injured footy player without a job declares himself over his injury problems and ready to go.

Sounds legit.

Hard pass.

Pretty much exactly what I was going to post.

Of course a bloke will declare himself ready for a big footy contract.

Nope, nope, nope, no way.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
