Start Winning Finals regularly and we will have that home base built, very close to where we are now, as it should be.
we should already be in the Lexcus Center But Gutnick ruined that opportunity

Gabriel szondy was the president of time that knocked back the offer to move into the Lexus Centre

Anyone know why Kozzie didn't play in this game or the Casey one? His Instagram stories have him hanging out with Docker Liam Henry in what looks like WA.

at the time though it didn't include olympic park, so all you got was an admin centre and indoor training facilities

when the filth went there they had to jog up to gosch's paddock and wasn't until eddie did his sneaky conjuring act that they pinched olympic park

there never was any guarantee you'd get olympic park if you took the lexus centre

They didn't talk about it a whole lot on the broadcast, but I've seen a few people mention the conditions were trickier than what they seemed on TV. Fair wind and quite slippery apparently. None of the tall forwards for either side did much, so I'm hoping it was a factor a little bit. TMac has looked very hot and cold in the two games so far, but he seems to be the type that can find form instantly and then he's on a roll. Not totally sure on Brown yet. I know he kicked those goals against Adelaide, but they were mostly a bit lucky IMO. Given he didn't play yesterday my impression is he might be insurance for injuries/form rather than a starter straight up.

Actually didn't totally hate Pig's game. His use was pretty poor, but in general I thought he improved a bit from the first game. Agree it's an interesting year for him where he could play a few out at Casey though, especially with Harmes slotting in and Salem to come back.

Spargo, Lockhart and Bedford are the intriguing ones for me. All 3 are probably 2nd/3rd in line for their positions from a list perspective, but they're all showing some really good signs now. Thought ANB was good yesterday too DD, I know he's one you watch closely.

The wind was definitely a factor. There were intermittent gusts coming from the east. (Big gap in between the stands on the eastern side.) That were strong enough to affect a ball drop let alone the kicks. Still mostly down to skill errors.

Big positives for me was work rate behind the ball. We ran hard and set up well, lot of talk going on. Hawks on the other hand just stacked the backline in the second half. Lazy football.

Plenty of Melbourne supporters in attendance. We’re as rare as hens teeth in Tassie, but showed up in force!

When Gawn was rested after half time hawks started to get on top. But we fought back, particular towards the end of the third.

Tactically adjusted well when the hawks tried to counter our switches. Skills improved as the game went on and you could feel the team confidence rise.

Hawks backline put a lot of physical work on and off the ball into Fritter, Melksham and T Mac. They didn’t bite back. Huge smile on Fritters face after the game when they were giving out the balls. Obviously loving it!

Yes there were negatives...But we won!!!

Go Dees!!

Thanks mate! Awesome to hear a bunch of aspects that the rest of us missed on tv. Much appreciated.

Did anyone else think it significant that Fritsch and Melksham kicked 9 goals between them?

Our key forwards in TMac and Weideman were simply mobbed every time they went near the ball - which left Fritsch and Melksham either on there own, or one on one.

And for once we adjusted our game plan to take advantage of this situation.

The Weid and TMac can become decoys every week if we get these sort of results.

yeah TMac and Weid are always gonna draw the stronger defenders. allowed Fritsch and Melk to isolate deep on the weaker ones. it won't work every week but it was a good tactic seeing as Hawks had Hardwick and Impey out of their backline too. they just couldn't seem to find the right match up for Fritsch, and Melk is always a tough match up 1 on 1 for his size.

Are we actually worried about Viney’s sling tackle? Commentators keep mentioning it but surely a fine at worst given the Hawks player was totally fine.

Gawn Trac Brayshaw Oliver in the middle is where its at .

potent -

Viney was good -

hopefully injury is kept at bay this season - it will be a good  season - fitter than ever credit due to The fitness  staff and Pert and Co for getting Burgess .

Hopefully Bennel can add some elite kicking particularly to our forwards .

would love to have Watts for this reason - something we lack is a grade delivery.

AFL at the start of a season looking to make an example of a player... a MFC player.... MFCSS... yes I think he’s a chance to get a week, fine at the very least.

No excuse Gabriel szondy cost the Melbourne football club at least 5 million dollars,we had nothing at the time why the hell would you knock back a state of the art Centre.anyway that wasn't the point of my post, everybody keeps on blaming Joe gutnick for the bad things that happened at Melbourne even 3 years after he left, maybe because he's a Jew and everybody loves blaming the Jews, just check ancient and recent history. I don't know How Gabrielle  has gotten away with his incompetence, no one ever blame him  he cost the football club millions. For 3 years he knocked back 1 million a year from the AFL for extra assistance, he inherited a club with little debt and put the club in 5 million dollars debt over his 3 years presidency.

Knowing our MFCSS Viney will get a week while the bulldog who did a worse tackle (and worse result) will get off.

Geez, more pre-emptive sooking!

How about looking at the positives like the fact we won, we again powered home in the last quarter with our superior fitness and have just had our best pre-season for ages?

Based on what I've read in this thread (admittedly I haven't read every post) it seems like the back 7 for Round 1 (assuming everyone fit and well) might be:

May, Lever, Salem, Harmes, Jetta and Hibberd plus one of O Mac (if we need an extra tall), Hore (if we need a medium tall) or Lockhart (if we need an additional small). I'm not saying that Lockhart doesn't deserve to play round 1, but if WC play Darling, Kennedy and a resting ruckman forward, won't we need a third tall defender? And if so, where, then, would Lockhart fit in? Is he a better option than Salem, Jetta, Hibberd or Harmes?

If Viney were to cop a week ( which l don’t think he should, as it was a very soft landing ,with no damage done at all.) Then is makes a mockery out of the previous Couch incident were there was blood damage and also sets a ridiculous precedent for the AFL to administer and get hopelessly tangled up in, as the season unfolds.

Progressive subjective calls, as the season runs simply infuriates supporters of all persuasions.

IMO the damage inflicted ,or unfair advantage obtained, in the incident should provide a better indication of a likely penalty.

I hope that Lockhart if he plays is as fast as what people think he is, because a whisper i heard says he aint......

HIs leg speed looks ok to me...

I am more concerned with his reaction time to make decisions with ball in hand though.

Will be interested to watch his development.

Also, I'd love to see us put Harmes on Liam Ryan from the first bounce.  Has the pace, size and athleticism to go with him all day.

And yes, you would expect us to play May, Lever and O Mac in Round 1.  That might not be what we go with each week, but if the Eagles do go with the two key forwards and the resting ruck then we'll need that support.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
