Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Yeah, sorry didn't mean to include you.   Now here's another 'open-minded'  possibility - the Martians are preparing to invade Earth.

Do you believe in Martians Sue.?   Or is this one of those female things,  and so, one of those overreactions, to a simple concept put forth.?

Remember 'be alert',  'not alarmed'.

Rubbish.

If anyone at a club gets the virus then your can't play games against that club.  If a few clubs get it,  then the whole competition is in jeopardy.

Don't worry guys, the PM has got this handled. He's told the virus to take a break until Monday so he can go to the NRL.

He really know's what he's doing. FFS.

I thought this was a joke at first, but it's true!  He's actually going to the rugby tonight!

Scotty has completely lost the plot.

I thought Sue was a Fem, naturally I am a little naive. But she/he sounds like a Fem.

There was chatter in some media that the virus 'escaped' from a bio-tech lab near the Wuhan wet market which has been blamed for starting the spread of the virus.  Apparently, several of the people first diagnosed had not been near the market.  One of them was a lab technician from the bio-tech facility.

Make of that what you will.

To put it bluntly this virus is only a concern for the elderly. Look at the death rates. Most people hardly know they are crook. If this virus escaped by accident then maybe you have a point but deliberatly no. It is not lethal enough. As I have said before the whole reaction to this is mindless insanity. Having said all this I have copd so I don't want it.

Is there something about this virus they are not telling us ? I don't think so.

Dieter, your odious intimidation efforts are not helping anyone.  I've put forward a pretty straightforward set of copiously verified facts with clear cause and effect relationships.

- that the dismal animal welfare and workplace safety cultures and laws of many countries, but most particularly the globally integrated ones headlined by China, is a major factor in this, previous, and likely future novel contagions.

- that the cover-up first response culture of many authoritarian countries, but most particularly the globally integrated ones headlined by China, is a major factor in virus' being enabled to spread beyond an initial outbreak.

Failure to deal with the reality of the situation actually provides racists with a cloak to cover their vileness - based on your response any given racist can now say 'Look, the PC police won't even let us talk about the failings of a repressive totalitarian state.'

I speak from a position of resentment on this because I have watched as this knee-jerk 'it's racist' reaction has provided a similar cloak to awful reactionaries across the world who have successfully branded things like human rights, free press, women's liberation, and so on as 'western/white conspiracies' sent to undermine the 'unity' of the 'natural order'.  From Turkey to Indonesia to Sri Lanka, there's hardly a repressive government that hasn't claimed that, say, Amnesty International is actually just a front for white cultural imperialism.

Dieter, your thoughtless aggression harms people I care about.  Please take some time to reflect on the conspiracy theorist tones of your post I have quoted and whether that is really how you want to relate to the world.

I agree in full. To suggest it is racist to point out the obvious and well documented failings of an authoritarian international government is non sensical.

As LG points out, by muddying the waters this actually emboldens true racists to say whatever they want and pay out on what they see as left wing pinkos when they are criticized.

No.! Its a major risk to anyone who has an underlying respiratory ailment or Heart issues.  Maybe some do not even know they are at risk.  Asthma sufferers particularly.

Another cause of susceptibility for respiratory problems is obesity.  If your obese you have a high percentage chance of developing server respiratory reaction from COVID-19 and die.  The other issue with mass infection is available medical resources.  Big issue like in Italy as they do not have enough respirators to treat all patients and keep them alive, they are deciding who gets the support and favouring younger patients, hence their higher death rate.    Plus the secondary effects on the normal emergencies that hospitals would normally have to deal with may not have the resources to do so.

Shut things down early like Hong Kong and minimise the spread - worked in Hong Kong.

There is no way to stop the spread, no big crowds, how about peek hour everyday on the train many people, this is madnshess, stop the bull.

Doctors are idiots how long are we going to stop work for one month 2 months 3 months 4 months crash the whole economy for what for old people, the damage it's going to cause to people's mental health, and economical health is not worth this quarantine rubbish, everybody should just go about their own lives and treat people when they get sick that's the only thing the doctors can really control

No and I go about life as normal. physical activity leads to breathlesness but you get it back after a few seconds rest. Still I think this corona virus has been exagerated by the media and politicians. The flu may kill more people than this but only time will tell. They don't seem too concerned about the flu do they.

I have no doubt the anecdotes mean it 'escaped' by accident; certainly not released deliberately and I wasn't trying to imply such.  Why would China do that in their own back yard?

Totally agree the reaction is 'mindless insanity':  approx 130,000 diagnosed cases worldwide, some 5,000 deaths worldwide.  In a world population of nearly 8 billion.  What are the odds?  Yet world leaders are spooking their citizens and bringing their countries to a standstill risking crippling their economies and communities.

I fear there will be a high price to pay for effectively shutting down activities.

Seems that the NRL will be behind closed door from Round 2.

No crowds allowed at AFLW from tomorrow onwards.

Surely we'll get an update about AFL shortly.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
