I can’t be the only one so starved for footy that I’m watching this.

Frosty already doing Frosty things in a Hawks jumper (I mean that in a complimentary way Mrs Frost if you’re reading this)

Hill would’ve been a very handy pick up. Pretty jealous the Saints nabbed him. AFL app still has him wearing a Freo jumper ??

First half has been a classic pre-season game:  decent skills but plenty of errors, one team starting hot then the other getting into the groove... neither side worries me all that much though.

Both will be bottom 10 this year.

Frost has had a shocker..! Not much has changed with him.

How good is it to see footy at Moorabbin again!

Also no idea how people can say a team is bottom whatever in one half of the first praccy match.

Brad Hill... what a gun.

It makes me sick listening to how much they rate him. He made that many classic Frosty errors. Kept banging on about how handy he will be. Also kept mentioning how he was top 10 in our BNF. Did they forget that we were a bottom 2 side ??

Taking my MFC hat for a second, I Thought Frost was good after quarter time. Certainly did more good than bad.

Not the party line ?

I thought both teams would've been happy with that hit out. Saints looked pretty slick for PS1 and had a good look at Hill, Butler, King, Coffield and Clark in particular. They'll be knocking on the door of the 8 this year

Hawks wouldn't have been happy with McEvoy going down but he should be back round 1 or 2 if it's a minor hamstring. Patton looked ok and got through unscathed as did Mitchell, that would be the only thing I was worrying about as a Hawks supporter at this stage

Went to the AFL website and didnt even know there was a game on last night until I saw this thread.

Their website is truly horrendous.. why have they gotten rid of the scoreboard bar along the top?

They also did not have any match stats available on their website. You had to go to their smartphone app or a third parties.

It's not only the media that overrated him, more posters here where crying that we were letting him go, if you never watched him play, and read the thread about Frost going, you would have thought we were trading  SOS.

An apt comparison. SOS was the definition of overrated

Membrey best on ground!!  I thought it was just us he got up for. Kicked a lazy 4.

I hoped last year we might chase him. Very underrated in my opinion

I bet Hawthorn wish they had Oscar McDonald instead of Frost...

We effectively traded Frost for Langdon.

Methinks the Saints’ past players and supporters passion was about having footy back at Moorabbin last night

I cannot get excited about preseason games

I’m not a fan of nfl, but one thing they do well is not giving preseason as much oxygen - it’s straight into competitive games not this glorified training malarkey

Quick look on social media and Hawks fans seem happy with Frost's performance last night which i found interesting, still early days. Still love the Frost - but not always for positive footballing reasons

They will after a season of frost ball that's for sure.

Anyone would think they’d won the AFLX premiership.

SOS overrated, a 2 time premiership player who played fullback for all of his career, but also kicked over 200 goals yeah overrated, I know we all hate Carlton but respect man.

saw most of his games live.

All I will remember of him is the killer torp in the Hawks finals match in 2019 at the 5 minute mark of the 1st 1/4.

We wouldn't have improved if he kept getting a game with us.

Good luck to him at the hawks though, but gee they are a seriously good outfit disposal quality- wise and I just cant see it for him there.

Think the emotion more about the return to Moorabbin. As a baysider I remember spending a couple of great nights at the social club there as a youngster. Was rocking! Not sure anyone actually went to moorabbin for the actual footy.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.

It's Game Day and the Demons are back on the road again and this may be the last roll of the dice to get their 2025 season back on track as they take on the Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.
