Move into Waverley until we find a home. I presume our admin could move in as well. We could be a proper football club for once.

It may need some work, and will definitely need a paint job, but I hear the landlord has plenty of cash.

Getting the Caulfield Homebase built needs to be the number #1 priority for Paul Guerra (after sorting out the football department).

The biggest challenge is getting the $100 million or so to actually pay to see it come to fruition at Caulfield.

Keep buying those lottery tickets!

Where is the Admin based now? MCG? If I had to relocate from MCG to Waverley I'd be looking for a new job the minute that meeting was over.

we'd still be based in three spots - mcg, waverley, casey

waverley should simply not be an interim option

The issue of Casey and our home base won’t be resolved soon, given Caulfield hasn’t even been ticked off yet.

So while continuing the process of Caulfield do we base ourselves at Waverley for a 2-3 year period?

Start by getting all departments under the 1 roof while Caulfield gets built

Probably but the post I was replying to mentioned housing the Admin at Waverley too

Waverley in the short term if Caulfield is on but 4 + years away can't be a bad thing yes?

It's at least a home under one roof even if temporary and within reasonable striking distance for most.

Better than the Casey marshlands surely.

We shouldnt leave Goschs until the new facility is built.

Moving on an interim basis - Pies get Goschs and then caulfield falls through....and we are stuck in no mans land.

For anyone in the know, if Caulfield doesn't happen, what are our options?

Was there something more to the fact we trained at Kevin Bartlett reserve yesterday? We once looked at that site to develop a home base. It then went quiet. Could the new Pres and CEO be about to explore it again ?

Don't think so - Ed said the boys just wanted to play their soccer game away from the spotlight - that almost worked.......that decision did leave certain hardy track-watchers staring at the grass at Gosch's. Oh well.

Just rent Waverley as a stop gap. Get the admin and footy department at one location. Half the drive from the city. Sort out Caufield in the background.

It will make us instantly more appealing as a club.

But what if you could also get a mill a year and not have to drive to Casey and back a few times a week?

Can't say I know too much about this thread but has the option of sharing a schools ground and facilities an option or been talked about?

A private school would have a decent setup and could be mutually beneficial.

Quite right. Hoping there is no pride involved here that is holding it up. Spend a couple of hundred grand giving it a facelift, do the occassional run at Gosch's, and let the people behind the scenes work on Caulfield which is 5 years away if absolutely everything goes right. Which it won't, even if we do get approval.

Watched a game at that ground recently, ground not in a good space - players slipping all over the place. Glad we escaped injury

Player list and salary trumps everything as its linked to job security ... coaching jobs are rare ... its not an issue.

No way on Waverely. If not good enough for Hawks why good enough for us.

And their training oval is surround by residences who have a bird's eye view of the ground and everything we do.

And once we move there we will never get our home base. The likes of Hutchy and Wakeley will campaign against us moving out just as they are campaigning for us move in

I don't know what their agenda's are but I really hope our Board doesn't make another knee-[censored] decision.

And maybe if we get someone like Buckley who by accepting the appointment has no qualms going to Casey it may reduce the angst others have.

I heard Sammy Edmond (I think) on sen yest say something like Caulfield is progressing slowly but bogged down by red tape but looks like it will get done.

Hopefully this is true and it’s only a matter of time.

An update from the club would be nice.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.
