Gary Pert welcoming them to Caulfield as though we are already sorted there and they are the Johnny come latelys is bloody cringeworthy. We still don't even have a business case and have a $70m funding gap while they've finalised a $195m purchase of land.

“We welcome the announcement that Mount Scopus Memorial College intend to be our neighbour, building a new campus adjacent to Caulfield Racecourse,” Pert said.

I think you have misread the quote.

"We welcome the announcement that Mount Scopus Memorial College intend to be our neighbour......"

This is positive language, assuming our deal is done. Not cringeworthy at all. Well played I say.

Pert & MFC most definitely would have known about the incoming Scopus deal.

Agree No.31, getting MFC & Mount Scopus is huge for Glen Eira, a huge injection of infrastructure, capital and great people, as previously mentioned - Win-Win-Win.

I just realized I am in a pretty unique situation in this project.

I am a MFC member of about 50 years and former Executive Director of the Club, among other roles.

I am a Life Governor and member of the Foundation of Mt. Scopus College, with grand children attending the school. I am not a former student, as I went to Melbourne High School, which I am incidentally also a Life member of the MHSOBA ( the old boys association ).

I am also a member of the MRC and part owner of racehorses, including one running in the last race at Caulfield this saturday, which I hope doesn't " clam up " ( a hint as to which horse ).

I will see if I can engage any of the Committee for some info on Saturday, in the winner's room hopefully, after winning the last race.🤞

Are you sure you aren't actually running the whole thing?!?

Great work looking into some inside info!

You seem to have so many conflicts of interest that they all cancel out making you the ideal person to get this done.

It would be a done deal for the Dees if I was.

That's an excellent achievement IMO.

Approximate what years or at least decade were you a director?

Remember he is a 9 year old now, so getting very close to retirement.

1980’s. Team Manager in 1970’s. Member of Club Foundation. Founded a supporters group, started the first club magazine, did some recruiting and other roles over the years. That is a summary.

No one should doubt your commitment Mr. Leg

Exactly, assuming our deal is done. We don't even have a business case finalised yet let alone finding the funding and getting it all approved.

If the MRC Chairman is opposed to our presence there what is the chances this gets over the line?

Heck of a resume Mr Leg, couldn't be a better placed person to get perspective on this from.

Are we also allowed to know what years you were a MHSOB?

And thanks for the tip this Sat.

Just to provide an alternative view, they may have a very good idea of where the funding is coming from already without having it formalised in a business plan. They are probably in the process of getting the different parties to sign off on agreements of funding, to then finalise the business case.

I want a report in triplicate on my desk by 9 on Sunday, 11 if your horse wins!

So, the name of our new facility is sewn up, then.

Yeh, yeh, but, but … what have you done recently!

Seriously that is an amazing amount of public service Redleg, commendations to you. Incidentally it matches up quite nicely against my own. I went to a match once.

1966-1970 I did honours Matriculation, meaning I failed the first go, as I only sat for 2 subjects, English and Music.

I was playing in bands and heading the wrong way, but my Parents intervened and life took a u-turn.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
