Absolutely. We haven’t returned yet, regardless of what has been done over the Summer and there are a lot of clubs who want to keep it that way.Ā

What about Sponsorships?

Since repeating oneself seems to be acceptable in this thread, I'll repeat that I don't think the ? is necessary.

It depends on the content of the doco. As you say, no questioning the 'hell' bit, but if the doco focuses on what we are doing to try to get back, it is appropriate, though maybe "to Hell and the Road Back" would be better.

Ā  There is no reason on the face of it to assume the title is an empty boast and that no other interpretation is possible.Ā  I'd agree with SWYL et al if the title was "To Hell and Back to Heaven" or used Milton's two titles, but it didn't.Ā Ā  Anyway, a storm in a tea cup.

We do get ourselves bent out of shape about the smallest of things here at DL?

If nothing else, this thread reminds me of a blind man in a dark room looking for a black cat that's not even there.

You are wrong and have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about.Ā

I disagree completely. In a perfect world we would have the luxury of not needing to overhype but in reality we have to do anything we can to sell as many memberships as possible. If we have another terrible season, won't have mattered whether we were quiet or loud now. Have to do everything we can to retain as much of the membership base as possible or we'll just lose more ground.

Ā

Well saidĀ  RBT that is how l look at it as well. However I like to say that you don't fluke a Ā finalsĀ  and fluke winning finals games because we have talent on our list to do well at any time.

Injury free to keys and some very good pickups has rejuvenated the list there is no reason for all of us not to feel confident.

Therefore there is aĀ reason but to feel optimistic about 2020 and beyond.Ā  We haveĀ  to live the dream.

So sign up if you haven't yet out there.Ā

Wrong wrong wrongĀ

Without the fans there is no Club reallyĀ

We are the reason forĀ the players.

I recently watched all of last year's Melbourne games again. That was painful.Ā I came away thinking that it's going to take a lot more than we're doing or have done to turn it around. Are we the only ones who recruited a couple of players from other clubs? Or took quality young players from the draft? Other clubs have done the same or better. Sure, we should be fitter this year and hopefully have fewer injuries, but other clubs won't have stood still. I really want to believe we'll perform, but we will just have to wait and see. As for the video, why reinforce failure? BecauseĀ unless we do return from hell, that's all it will be doing.Ā

Not even Goodwin did that......

Oh wait, that was the prelim....

It does to the Media and outside world.Ā
just unnecessary pressure in my opinion.Ā
I would have called it something else.Ā
ā€œRedemptionā€ would have been my choice.Ā
one Word, simple and straightforwardĀ

Isn't Redemption as 'bad' as Back?Ā Ā Ā  But Grimes-Times' post shows that there are other ways of interpreting the title without even bending the dictionary defintion.Ā  I wonder how you'd be feeling as a Port supporter?Ā  More than a storm in a tea cup there I guess.

I am not a Port Supporter, they can operate any way they like.Ā
Redemption has one meaning. ā€œTo Hell andĀ Backā€ has many interpretations. That is the only reason i don’t like it

Ok we know what U think about the title get over it, only the context of the docoĀ  matters now, just judge the rest of the doco with your professional eye, then comment.Ā

I thought having double (or more) meanings was a common trick for attracting attention in titles.Ā Ā  Is the Redemption achieved or are we working on it?

It all depends on theĀ season ahead and we haven’t had it yet. Get back to me in June

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front.Ā They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season.Ā Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table.Ā The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hopeĀ that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, MelbourneĀ captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles atĀ Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.Ā  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, aĀ career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested),Ā nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.Ā

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
