WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL

Not doing himself any favours old Harley. I really want him to have a good run at it next year, but I can't help but feel the club have gone cold on him and might move him on with list size restrictions. This incident won't help his chances.

Interestingly in the Hell and Back series, there was mention about the club asking him to give up the booze for a while from memory? Not suggesting that was still the case, but interesting nonetheless given this incident is being reported as alcohol related.

If the story is true and he’s breached the COVID rules then his career is over.

I recall covid suspensions being between 2 and 10 games, not 100. ...And the club not having a 1 strike policy.

If he has stuffed up, my first instinct is that I feel sorry for him, particularly when faced with potentially career ending ramifications.  I hope the Melbourne FC is able to help him where we can, whether he plays for us or not.

I would give him a break. Until it’s all finished for 2020.  We do not know all details. Too many here too willing to throw a talent away.  It’s the end of the year for him.  Give him any benefit to be had.  Some far to quick to judge.

Thats not to say he is innocent or guilty,

just give it a break.

How is this the end of the year for him? We could still play finals.
If his season is done, go back to Melbourne. Don’t get [censored] outside the hub. Ffs some fans are far too forgiving.

6 million Victorians can follow rules but AFL players can’t?

Isn't it more like 5,999,956 out of 6,000,000 Victorians can follow the rules. Caveat - this figure does not include umpires!

Sorry you’re correct. There’s like 200 idiots protesting for their right to destroy 5G towers and breath heavily in public or some [censored].

Yeah and it pathetic. A no DH policy should be at the forefront of all decisions.

No, they're just protesting against 6+ months of lockdown for a virus that kills less than 1% of people who get it

Bulldogs will not lose, and he has not been picked for months. His season is over,  why be so judgmental.

Just another little disappointing thing this year. Judge the players or selectors from our losing games with the same amount of discipline.

Posted on here over a month ago that source at the club told me he was unlikely to have another contract for next year.

This sort of news will just tip the scales now.

Presumption of innocence for mine.

Not looking great but let's see what comes out of this.

Let's remember the AFL are very heavily involved in managing who they want in finals and there's many inside the AFL and entrenched in the circus that would've hated us beating their beloved Essendrug yesterday.

Look at the insane Fox headline saying an umpiring decision decided the match!  Of course let's conveniently overlook the inexplicable HTB on ANB in the last and the non-decision for a clear unrealistic marking attempt by Stringer over Hibb.  Both resulting in a goal to the AFL's drug wacked baby.

Then we have an AFL coach in clear breach, leaving the hub to go play a round of tennis with some mates well after Gil sent out his final warning and he still gets to coach the next week with a slap on the wrist $25k (reduced) fine.  This is a mature aged bloke who of all ppl would have knowingly realised he was going to breach the hub, yet still went ahead regardless as he knows the club is untouchable.

The worst Harley should be hit with is the same IF he's found guilty of doing same.  Cop the fine if so and he continues his career.

Is Buckley still coaching after his breach and being in a much greater position of responsibility?

Goddammit Harley. Why?

I hope we will continue to be supportive and stay the course. He has made great strides to turn his life around and people will have blips. A back-slide doesn't equate to a lost cause - and I feel for the bloke that he moved to Melbourne for a settled family life and ended up in a hub back in QLD. Yes, I know that the majority of you have been stuck in lockdown as dutiful citizens - it doesn't mean that you can't have empathy for other people's life circumstances.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
