To Hell and Back

Haven't watched it.

I assume it's complete clap trap probably pushed on to us by a youngster or two within the club.....somewhere.  Maybe one Mr Baggins of Bag End influenced the production crew into this uninspiring title.  How about Scully and Mulder?

Looking at the headline.... we are supposedly Demons yes?  But are we?  So assuming we still are, then why would we want to come back from Hell?  Surely that's our nirvana and we would much rather remain.

But then we might not be Demons anymore.  Does this mean we can no longer handle Hell and instead prefer to bask and back slap simple things like minor improvements on the track or the the odd win here and there in the season proper as nice Melbournians?

The truth is out there somewhere but i suspect it probably aint in this vid.

We are just setting ourselves up here for a media barrage if we start the season off poorly with this video.

It will be cancelling the pre-season camp all over again.

They're damned if they do and damned if they don't. People on the board harp on about fan engagement and website content and yet complain when a video is released like this or comment made because it could set us up for failure.

I want the fire on the team, and I think they feel it. The doco will be a look into the inner sanctum and chance to get a better understanding of what the pre-season is coming off a hugely disappointing year. The media will do what they do anyway.

Depends how wide it is distributed, if other clubs get onto it, if we have a bad start, look out.
we always go to early with this stuff, one of the reasons why i haven’t contacted the media department of the MFC over the years to help out with work.
i don’t want my name on the credits when they backfire!!!

This video should be released in September 2020 IF we make the Finals & not before....

Agree They are doing what a club site is supposed to do.

Promote the team to Future and current members.

Why else would they exist!

It's the way of the future. NFL teams basically produce their own preseason doco mini-series now and I for one enjoy it. It whets the appetite, of course it's going to have a positive spin - I'm sure no-one in the club is expecting dire results this year. Focus on the positive and deal with the negative if/when it happens

I was looking at the Philly 76ers twitter feed (I hasten to add im not on twitter, i linked out from an article accidentally) and they had a video (super low quality, obviously a phone) of brown (their coach) giving his post lakers win spell to the players in the change room (Great job blah blah, what a way to play in your first game as starter, cheers from players etc etc) in their

dressing room. It ended with him giving simmons the Philly bell to ring as best player.

Different market I know but it was up an hour after the game and already had over 60k views. Practically free and instant access to behind the scenes for fans. Terrific stuff.

The doco is a great idea. And will get heaps of views.

It was embarrassing at the time and it's even more embarrassing now. 'To Hell & Back - an underdog story of a 17th placed teams' surge up the ladder to 9th'.

I haven't watched a second of this crap. I've enjoyed the extra behind the scenes stuff this year and have really enjoyed what Ben Gibson has brought to the table but stuff like this just reeks of a club that has no idea. How much more urine can this club take from its supporters and members? We're a club that likes the idea of success but has no idea what it looks like and how to get there. We'd want to be ripping some band aids off during this off season.

A positive view on 17th to 9th...Based on a linear trajectory, Melbourne will be top of the ladder next year.

I thought it was great. Well made, good insights, and absolutely wasn't trying to sell some kind of comeback story.

But then, I actually watched it so what would I know...

The ‘back’ in the title doesn’t mean we’ve made it back from hell. The saying to hell and back means to have gone through a hellish situation; you’ve gone to hell and then back there. Anyway...I thought it was a good series and gave supporters a little more insight into the club.

Can’t wait for the upcoming prequel series and the debate over who should be cast in each role.

Think it might be quietly shelved. Along with playing finals ever year and winning a flag by 2023. Bottom drawer stuff. Wonder what  the new plan will be?

Veteran Demonland Trackwatchers Kev Martin, Slartibartfast & Demon Wheels were on hand at Gosch's Paddock to kick off the official first training session for the 1st to 4th year players with a few elder statesmen in attendance as well. The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. 2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. There could be more of that in 2025. The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence.
