Impossible question really.

However,  if both were fit Tomlinson would clearly be in front for reasons of experience and consistency of performance . Most would rate him as a “better player”

Kk has been cruelled by his concussion issues.  One can only hope that he successfully overcomes these in order to show what he is capable of

    Tomlinson is durable and proven. He’s a decent player, quite versatile, but he’s no star and is a role player type.
    KK has a higher ceiling but it’s been years since he’s been fit. in his walker years he was a gun and finished high in Gold Coast BnF with the likes of Gary Ablett, Steven May and Tom Lynch.

    If both were fully fit I’d wager KK would be the better player, but it’s basically impossible to answer. Tomlinson will play wing for us next year, whereas KK may never play for us again.

    KK would have had a much better career than Tomlinson if he never had the injury concerns.

    No offence to Tomlinson, but KK is much better suited to a wing. We got Tomlinson because he is a solid best 22 option who is versatile and doesn't have injuries (Until he got to us and got injured immediately). He has shown he can play the wing position and can do it better than the majority of our list.

    Its a funny question really... How good would Trengove been without the foot injury? How good would the Ox have been without the knee reconstructions? Would Luke Molan be considered a bust if he never got injured?

    I'd take Tomlinson.  Durable, a better mark and more versatile. KK might have been anything before his concussion issues and still may be a useful contributor, but I rate Tomlinson.  He'll prove to be a valuable acquisition.

    I would rate pre injury (concussion) KK as the much better player 'BBO'...

    Tomlinson.  I see his role as a cut-out tall supporting outlet from the back half and offering contested marking power on the way back being really important to our structure.

    For the overall structure of the side it has to be Tomilinson, can just picture him rolling back in the defence and taking clunk marks and timely fists.

    He will be the ultimate bail out kick when we are shifting the ball out of defence when zone presses are applied.

    KK will be handy, if he can get his body right, no doubt.

    KK isn't much suited to a wing. In fact, he plays his best football when at half back.

    First game against Geelong this year he played the whole game on the wing for a terrible return of 5 disposals for the game. Next week against Essendon he was just as poor. 

    Tomlinson is miles ahead of KK in terms of playing that suitable wing role.

    It's currently a moot point really. Whether positioned on a wing or not Tomlinson is the only one likely to play a consistent part in our 2020 campaign.

    Started his career that way but he has mainly played the defensive side wing for the recent 2.5 seasons up until the second half of 2019 when he played all over the shop.

    A better question might be Tomlinson or Baker..

    Tomlinson obviously for now, but we should be blooding some experience into Baker this year too. Does he have to add more forward and defensive strings to his bow to get an op on the wing?

    My post was looking at if KK had never been injured in the first place and what each player's ceilings would be in the role.

    His games for us this year are pretty much null and void after how much football he missed. He really shouldn't have been in the team in the first place imo.

    Disregard Bamf's assessment of KK.

    A 2 game sample is not relevant snd IMO he is the one that has played overall the best football in his career of the two.

    In fact KK would play a traditional wingman's role better then Tommo  and Zi still can't  believe That Tommo has the pace.

    Expect him to be at Half Beck at some stage or 3rd talking in the Forward line for versatility.

    Upbeat about both if both are fit and well.

    I totally get where he is coming from though. If you could wave a magic wand and make them both 100% right now then Tomlinson would be ahead by a long way. KK has simply missed too much footy to over the past few years. He would be so out of touch.. Which is what his two games this year were. I don't rate Tomlinson that highly, but he will play his role and will hopefully be durable.

    I was bullish about getting KK. I've done a complete 180 now. I think he is done. I don't think we will ever see him play again and i'm not sure if I want him to. I cringe when I think of him getting hit in the head again. I nearly felt this way about Brayshaw too, so fingers crossed that i'm wrong and that he makes it back.

    KK for me......although he has played most of his footy at half back, he offers greater speed that Tomlinson. I think this will become more important for us this year especially considering how important the wingers have become with the new 666 ruling.

    Wing has become one of the hardest positions to play in recent times with the workload required & whilst Tomlinson has an engine, I'm not sure he has the speed to keep up with the likes of Gaff, Kelly, Scully, B Hill, L Hunter, T Phillips, Florent & McCluggage

    Interesting question.  Who would I prefer on the wing, Kolodjashnij or Tomlinson ?

    How good would it be if Harley Bennell somehow returns to his best ?

    Neither player in the poll inspires.

    The only question raised (and answered back in September) was probably: Frost or Tomlinson on the wing/dropping back into defense? I reckon the FD would have Tomlinson penciled in for 25/26 games this year.

    He will be hard for them to bring down with ball in hand tho...dont assume he will be all defence.

      Round 11, the second week of The Sir Doug Nicholls Round, kicks off on Thursday night with the Cats hosting the Bulldogs at Kardinia Park. Geelong will be looking to to continue their decade long dominance over the Bulldogs, while the Dogs aim to take another big scalp as they surge up the ladder. On Friday night it's he Dreamtime at the 'G clash between Essendon and Richmond. Saturday footy kicks off as the Blues face the Giants in a pivotal clash for both clubs. Carlton need to turn around their up and down season while GWS will be eager to bounce back and reassert themselves as a September threat. At twilight sees the Hawks taking on the Lions at the G. Hawthorn need to cement themselves in the Top 4 but they’ll need to be at their best to challenge a Brisbane side eager to respond after last week’s crushing loss to the Dees on their home turf. The first of the Saturday night double headers opens with North Melbourne up against the high-flying Magpies. The Roos will need a near-perfect performance to trouble a Collingwood side sitting atop the ladder.

Both experienced periods of success at various times last year. The Demons ran out of steam in midseason while the Swans went on to narrowly miss the ultimate prize in the sport. Now, they find themselves outside of finals contention as the season approaches the halfway mark. The winner this week will remain in contact with the leading pack, while the loser may well find itself on a precipice, staring into the abyss. The current season has presented numerous challenges for most clubs, particularly those positioned in the middle tier. The Essendon experience in suffering a significant 91-point loss to the Bulldogs, just one week after defeating the Swans, may not be typical, but it illustrates the unpredictability of outcomes under the league’s present set up.

Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

      The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.
