Really sad to read that. Only 23 years old and already looks like his footy career is over. But worse is the effect those concussions have on him. Can’t go to busy places, drive a car etc. very sad and he’ll probably have to manage that the rest of his life.

Hope he’s able to get some semblance of normality and health back.

If he plays again, it should be for the Saints. Hopefully they can find him a role off field and he can start getting better. Poor bastard.

Terrible luck

From #1 pick to out of the game with under 50 games

His concussion symptoms sounded horrific

Just goes to show having no.1 pick in a draft does not guarantee success.

More involved than just concussion, he along with his brother have a similar problem, lets just say one club has handled in a far better fashion than the other.

Is there any hope of him playing again 'drysdale' or is he totally shot?

If he is able to play again, I hope all clubs agree to let St Kilda redraft him with their last pick in the draft of the relevant year. It would be even better if the AFL made a rule that players who sit out a year (or more) because of concussion can be automatically re-listed. In fact, the rules should change so instead of delisting him, St Kilda should be able to temporarily suspend his listing. The last thing he needs is the pressure of wondering whether he might be drafted by another club should he return and still want to play with the Saints.

He will be a Delisted Free Agent so can go to the club of his choice.

If what Drysdale Demon says is accurate and if he were to come back I hope Paddy goes to Sydney where they seemingly have successfully managed his brother's similar issues.

If that is the case and can be medically substantiated, when the dust settles Paddy would have every right to take it to the courts.

Clearly, a range of complex issues for Paddy.  On the concussion, looking from the outside the Saints seemed to rush Paddy to play during games and after time out.  Very different than what we did with Gus.  We took him out very early for as long as it took.

Very sad for Paddy to have even the everyday things in life taken away, in his youth.  Even if he gets to everyday functioning it is several years out of his life he won't get back.

Hopefully the young lad can make a fully recovery in time and lead a normal health life.

Suggest that any major contact sport will probably be off the agenda with concussion issues like his so lets just hope he can recover.

I was hit by a car riding my bike last Jan, and I can say that these things are really [censored]. I get sad when I shouldn't, angry over nothing things, despondent over little things. And this is from someone that never took life seriously... always the joker and the clown.

But it can be worked out. With the right people around me things are getting better. Not perfect, and they probably won't ever be, but at least I know that it is not me, but rather me just not processing things the right way, and that means I can take a breath and let whatever it is wash over me.

Best of it all Paddy. The game is really a very minor thing in life

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
