Kardinia park, plenty of twilight games on Sundays, a 'blocbuster' vs an interstate team on Mothers Day and no Friday night fixtures.

My expectations are that we will have a crap draw from a commercial point of view after stinking it up this year.ย

Having finished 17th we should have an easier draw, but I assume we will still have crappy short breaks, trips to Cardinia Park, Tassie and whatever other random spots they feel like throwing us to.ย
ย

Pert did a great job for Collingwood on the draw. Letโ€™s see if heโ€™s pulled the same muscle for us. At least we have two big home games this year in Anzac eve and Queens Bday.ย

Of the bottom 6 we will get the hardest draw possible:ย  1 return game with a top 6 team, 2 return games with a mid 6 team and 2 return games with bottom 6 teams (probably Sydney and Freo).ย ย  Don't rely on the draw to get us back up the ladder ala Brisbane c 2019.

It won't be financially advantageous as we will be relegated to the Sunday afternoon games, few prime FTA spots and Home games will be against the low drawing clubs .ย  Thankfully it is our year for Home games on ANZAC Eve and QB which might boost the coffers a little.

The AFL will look favourably upon its darlings: Carlton and St Kilda and 'reward' their potential with more prime time FTA ala Ess c 2019 and Carlton c 2017.ย  Don't know what happened to the 'need to win games, to get FTA time slots vs big teams'.

All that MFCSS aside, I would like reasonable breaks after games to the WA or NT and to play them in the cool of night.ย

Gee your probably pretty close to pinning the tail on the Donkey Deeoldfart - but very glass half empty approach at this point :)ย

My expectation is that this will be an almighty whingefest,ย  despite the fact we have pretty much dug our own grave.

ย

True.ย
But also clubs like Carlton and Essendon, have dug their own grave in no less significant ways and still have never suffered poor draws like we have.ย
Yes I know, big clubs and so on and so forth. Hard to become a big club with this level of inequality though.ย

Does it really matter as long as the whiners get the Darwin game back home, we have to play 11 games 'away', as per mantra, successful teams can win anywhere ย  or are the whiners hoping we lose so they can whine about the draw

We deserve Trash after 2019

maybe Goodwin and Co will now understand how important Preseason really is

ย

Friday Night Melbourne vs Sydney will be postponed for a few years.

A spectacle so truly awful its rumoured to have prompted the AFL/7 to introduce flexible fixturing for 2020

Sound like youre the only one whining buddy

As long as we are not playing the Suns in Darwin as the away team!ย

Been a while since we played the Eagles at the G. May beย time they come to us.

Lets just get back to winning ways i say.

Must say though, what have Carltank and Essendrug done to deserve the preferential treatment from the AFL? honestly.

I actually like Sunday twilight games.

Strange?

Yep

If self fulfilling prophecies are anything to go by it looks like we're a stick on for the regular 3.20pm Sunday slot.ย

One of my questions for the 19th Nov, was the Darwin decision based on football, commercial reasons, or just to shut up a whining minority

Plenty of Friday night games for us. Home games against 3 big Victorian clubs. No visit to hell on earth ( sorry Geelong ) 4 or 5 Saturday 2.10 pm games. Have I forgotten something ?? ย  Oh yeah ....... no home games at Etihad.

Now pass me the prozac ย !!!!!!!!!

Well that was certainly a waste of a question.

And I think you will find the vast majority of Demon fans wanted the Darwin game scrapped.ย ย

Weโ€™re wellย overdue for a round 1ย interstate game this year. We havenโ€™t travelled in the season opener since 1998.

Iโ€™m tipping GC, WCย or Port interstate round 1.

I will laugh and cry at the same time if weโ€™re the away side in Darwin later in the year.

If the club is smart theyโ€™ll give upย the home fixture forย either ANZAC Eve or QB for nextย season, which would mean that from 2021ย onwards, weโ€™ll host one of thoseย blockbusters every year, rather than the feast / famine situation we have now.ย

ย

No use worrying about the draw really. It is up to the club and more importantly the players to get on the front foot and deliver some exciting footy next season and for those Melbourne based so called supporters turn up and SUPPORT the team, even if a crap day and time. Only way to get back to some prime time games is to deliver on field and have the supporters at the game so 7 & Fox start to take notice.ย

Wrong, perfectly valid question, always been my opinion that there has been a particularly noisy minority, ย based in a certain area of the MCG, that has had far too much influence over decisions made over the last few years

And not a majority of fans, I went up there 3 times and there were a lit of travelling Melbourne supporters

  • AFLW REPORT: Western Bulldogs

Weโ€™re back! That was fun. The Mighty Deesโ€™ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commandingย 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
