So, as the dust settles, I thought it would be worth looking at what we received and what we gave up in the trade period.  I think I've got this right, but I'll edit it if I didn't (and please feel free to let me know where I stuffed it up!)

In:  Tomlinson, Langdon, Pick 8, Future Second Rounder (Hawks), Future Fourth Rounder (Freo)

Out:  Frost, Pick 22, Pick 26, Pick 42, Pick 50, Pick 61, Pick 79, Future First Rounder,, Future Second Rounder, Future Fourth Rounder

Using a scale of A+ right through to an F, how would you rate the trade period as a whole?

For me, it's a B, although that could rise or fall depending on how we go about using our first two picks.  If we can break one of them up and get something really good back for it, then it could push toward an A.  If we were to relent and do the trade with GWS for Pick 6 and a future first rounder then it might drop to a B-.  But I doubt we do that.

But we finish the trade period with two picks inside the top 10 and we've added a good player in Tomlinson and a very good player in Langdon.  We did give up quite a few picks, however we still hold a second rounder, a third rounder and two fourth rounders for next year to go with the two top ten picks this year.

I know proof will be in the pudding when it comes to how we really did, but I'm interested to see how people are feeling right now.

We essentially got two starting 22 players for one second round pick. And managed to get another top 10 pick.

8/10 for me.

B-

We still lack a genuine key forward. Don't know if i am sold on going with Weideman and McDonald again.

The rest I really like though!

The key forward is hard to trade for. Normally have to give up a warchest. FA appears the better way to get them to the club so perhaps that can be the strategy next year?

B+ for me but will move north or south once the pick 3 debacle has been resolved

B+ trade period for me.

We will hit the draft and get some genuine A grade talent through the door.

We have improved our current playing group adding two genuine wingers.

I would have loved to get a fit Elliot accross the line because I am still a tad worried about our forward line. Time will tell I guess.

I think you can only rate this on endeavor as the picks we use are so subjective. On that basis I think the endeavor has been A1

I'll give a B, we got 2 players that walk into the starting 18, lost Frost who with May and Lever fit is fringe 22. Lost quite a few picks but traded into the top 10 so for this upcoming draft we have something to play with whether we choose to use them or trade them.

The only negative is that we are yet to address the forward line issue of lacking pressure and x-factor. If we're able to address those issues in the draft then it's another tick. If we find a way to land Martin then the over all trade/draft period will be be a massive win.

Well we unlike other clubs at least ended up with our prime targets which were settled on well before the trade period began .We weren't running around like headless chooks on the last hours of the final day .

B+ for me, with the possibility for an upgrade depending on how we use #3 and #8.

Two starting players in much needed positions, plus the possibility of Jack Martin, or two gun newbies is a great outcome.

What happened to Stretch and JKH?

We did very well. Addressed the lack of outside speed with Langdon (and don’t forget we have Baker developing into this role), Tomlinson is a bit of a wild card, but we gave up nothing for him. And we have picks 3 and 8 in a quality draft.

Good:
- Langdon

Meh:
- Frost out
- Tomlinson in, he might be useful but he's chewing up some serious salary.

Bad:
- Refusal to trade out anyone aside from Frosst to redeem value whilst they still have it - Gus Brayshaw mainly, although I wonder if Melksham and Hunt had interest.

Ugly:
- Not turning over the bottom of the list
- Not bringing in a variety of players
Expanding on these two I just don't see why we've kept the Wagner's, Jones, ANB etc instead of signing a key forward/ruck, a small forward, a key defender, outside speed etc. I look at Ryder, Butler, Cutler etc getting traded for nothing and think why not us?

Incomplete:
- The pick swap deal with North
- Plans for the final couple of list spots

If we snag Martin in PSD and pick 3 and 8 are a success its an A for me.

B. Good recruits but still too many bottom enders on our list. 3 + 8 is decent.

A++++ .... took the initiative...did it quickly... didn’t screw others over.. enhanced our reputation as good dealers.. got two wingers ... for $$ and not many picks.. stared peter bell in the face ... ended with two top ten picks... still possible to deal with gws for pick three.. and dfa’s with Murray et al.. if only burgess can work some magic..

I reckon we are overrating our efforts. In the last couple of drafts we seem to have a had a single minded focus during trade week. Last year we made a Prelim and on the back of two key forwards kicking bags we went all out for backmen. Thinking that May would be the missing piece. We gave up a very good forward to get him. This year we lacked outside speed so we have chased that. The fact remains tho, we have no dominant forward and I for one do not think McDonald will get back to his best. So what now? If he doesn’t, we are hedging all on Weiderman ? Petty? O mac up forward.? I would have had us 8-9/10 if we nabbed Jenkins for peanuts along with what we ended up with. I rate it 6 or 7 with a lot of speculative pics , like they all are, which may or may not impact our team next year. There should have been more turnover of our current list. We lost one player, who was in our best 10. I’ll wait and see next year. Dunno that we will be as happy game rd 23 last year

Not sure why we didn’t recruit Zak Jones, went for a pick in the 30’s.
A steal for the Saints.

We let Frost go to cheap.

Langdon, 3 & 8 fingers crossed will be long term players.
