Of all the bewildering trades over the past 3 years, re-signing Schache for another year takes the cake.

    Shocking. Deep draft this year too. He’s 30 next year already! Why we would opt out of a Liam Henry trade and bring this guy in instead is beyond me. Mcadam will retire and Henry will play for another 8 years.

    You get assessed on actions and outcomes.  Lamb is tracking for a F grade outcome. Fail.  Unsure how he would keep his role going forward. Fyi Josh Mahoney delivered excellent trades and success.

    And what's worse is Adelaide reportedly tried to fleece more out of us than just a second rounder, so I'll give Lamb a slight bit of credit for not giving up anything more for McAdam.

    Would there be any chance JM would come back? I think he would jump at the opportunity to work for a club again, not sure about us though.

    Red flags should have been in the air with Mcadam, I thought he would be a great get but not even the great man Darren Burgess couldn't get him on the track consistently.

    Lamb and Mahoney had different jobs.  Did you mean to compare Lamb and Viney Snr?

    He's probably not gettable, but Graham Wright did an incredible job in the couple of years he was at Collingwood before he went on his sabbatical/basically retired. Pretty much nailed every trade they got in.

    Lamb took over Todd Viney's job. The doesn't just entail trades it also includes movement of draft choices which he hasn't been too bad at.

    Lamb has been a massive failure from both a personnel and a contract perspective, whilst we have been a top 4 side. 

    How is he going to attract and retain top end talent if we drop out of finals contention when he can't do it now?

    There is a mini reset due in the footy dept. we just have to have a fresh start on field and off. And I fear These guys will be making more trade moves that will hurt us for years to come.

    Jordon, Grundy Out

    are just some of the work in the last 3 years. 
     

    I know hindsight is a gift, but that is an abysmal record.

    In defence of Lamb, our priority was clearly re-signing our premiership team which he did well. We secured Petracca, Oliver, Pickett, JvR, Lever, Rivers, Brayshaw among others in what we hoped would keep our core team together for a long time to challenge. This can be picked apart in hindsight, in particular the Brayshaw deal and Oliver's issues, but it was clearly a well supported move that most here were happy about.

    As such, we were playing on the fringes of trades with what salary cap we had left. Players left for more opportunity and we had limited salary cap with our stars signed up long term, so we scouted the fringes of teams of what we could afford. Were there other targets that could have improved our list or provided better depth, most definetely. Could we afford them from a salary cap position and did they want to come to us with best 22 spots limited and the prospect of spending the majority of time in the two's? That's another question.

    The good news (sort of) is we have best 22 spots opening up on the list and salary cap space now to hopefully lure some talent.

    Too true, i'll take the critics seriously when they link me to their posts slamming Petracca, Oliver, Pickett, JvR, Lever, Rivers re-contracting.

    We haven't missed Jordon and Harmes and Grundy had to go.

    Tim Lamb is front and centre to all trade talk discussion around the MFC posts, media etc and the AFL posts, media etc.

    Definitely responsible and accountable for trades (as well as Goody).

    Agree role also involves signing up players contracts which included long term deals for Trac, Clarry and Gus.

    What’s occurred in the last 3 trades is mind boggling and back flip on Grundy, letting Jordan go knowing Brayshaw possible retirement and also Harmes, instead of improving our list to win another flag we have gone backwards

    But it DOES  entail Trades. Given they are current players they afford the most potential for list improvements. 

    By any metric we're failing badly.

    Ergo he deserves to be Lambasted.

    Mark his card 'done' imo.

    We’ve lost players who are AFL standard and replaced them with VFL standard players. Big part of why we are being so exposed right now .

    There's a whiff of rebuild about our club at the moment, and not having a second rounder heading into the trade and draft period is disappointing.

    Not fussed about the Billings trade as we gave up nothing for him and he played some good games in March.

    Fullarton was a big fail considering he was supposed to be out back up ruck when we needed him the most, but yeah whatever.

    Hunter was good last season but seems his body is now getting the worse of him. Grundy was worth the risk and have no issues with that trade.

    Yes It is easy to look back in hindsight, but if we recruited Meek and Henry things would be different.

      There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

      At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

      Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
