@tallstuey We're still in the same place with the forwardline as last year hey? Noticed you last posted 1 year ago on the same topic before starting this new thread  ? I still have a big doubt any  recruitment coup will get across the line if its not that publicly rumoured currently, sadly.

That would be quite a coup as Bruce has committed to 4 years at the Bulldogs.  But Saints are playing hard ball saying the Bulldogs pick #32 won't get the deal done. saints won't let Bruce go cheaply

Bob Murphy would have some close contacts at the Bulldogs so it might be good intel.

A 2020 2nd round pick. Let's see some of these lippy Saints fans i've noticed this year, put their money where their mouth is and bet on us being down the bottom.

Saints will fold, as they are going all out next year to get Ben King and won't commit to more than one year for Josh Bruce. They also need salary cap room for the newbies Hill, Jones and whoever.

If they get too smart they could shoot themselves in the foot.

It's Josh Bruce? Was apparently reported on sen that we've made a late play.

@Yokozunasuggested it wasn't Bruce we were looking at, so interesting development. If this is true, have we gone cold on whoever it was we were looking at and are having a closer look at Bruce? I can't imagine we're in the hunt for 2 KPFs.

Is that suppose to be art? Anything can be art these days, have you seen those people that go around New York putting sprinkles onto dog faeces? Apparently it’s art as well.

Charlie Curnow ?

Just putting it out there, and before anyone asks and says i am trolling, I will not be giving any names (my source has demanded I don’t) but I have heard we are really trying to get a key forward from another vic team!!

I will let you all guess away (or conversely have a crack at me for not naming anyone and making it up), but I will only say he is from a vic team and has been mentioned nowhere in the media.

We all know Elliott was not the only player we have been talking too!

OK a key forward doesn't necessarily mean a big bloke. Maybe a hint is Elliott is not the only player we are talking to. Could it be another key small forward. The Saints and Dogs need to clear cap space for their upcoming recruiting. That opens things up Breust, Billings, Membery or Billy Gowers all of whom would surprise. MFC have long held a belief that Billings was the best in his draft year. Small quick who misses lots of goals but always performs well against us!!!!

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

  • PREGAME: Brisbane

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
