Woo-hoo. Gold Coast are not given No.2 pick.

Yeah, they were given pick one instead...

Which means they now have 1 AND 2.

I went too soon. Gerard Whately called it incorrectly. Boo-hoo.

And our second rounder also gets pushed by them having beginning of 2nd round pp. Double shafting

meh... the second round pick was going for Langdon.

I think giving them a mid first round pick next year is a bit of a joke given pre season hasn't even started yet.

After Martin goes they will be adding picks 1 & 2 plus another first rounder plus have the first two picks of the second round.

The will also be adding Ellis as a FA and have the likes of Rankine to come in and improve their list.

This team will rise up the ladder very quickly if they get their culture right this time around and it will be really awkward if the Suns finish 8-12 next year and are still granted another first round PP...

It's the old schoolyard take backs. Given they traded that pick to Brisbane last year

Just give them the lot #$*& you AFL

We have been struggleing for decades and get zip, they have only had to suffer a few years.

Why not give them s flag, a 5 goal head start in every match next year, any player the next 20 years

You watch they will win a flag before us.

?

Close this thread before someone commits suicide.

So we get #3 instead of #2, when going into this year we thought we might get #16-18.

Some people whinge over the smallest differences.

Yep, and fail to comprehend the big problem in the real scheme of things..............how the [censored] did we end up 2nd last on the ladder?

That's easy to understand.  Our coaches have no [censored] idea how to play.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

This is bull [censored].

We stay on the bottom for years and get nothing they spend one year on the bottom and get a priority. The AFL choose favourites so why didn't they stop Lynch going to the Tigers and destroying them. WHAT A JOKE!

The question has to be asked who is no3 in the draft?

Depends on the team, Rowell is a safer option, but Anderson i think is more talanted. sadly Suns get both.

For a little while

Listening to SEN a short time ago on the drive home, I think it was Chris Pelchen on with the host and they were talking about Pick 2 and how the Hawks will make a play for it in order to nab Anderson. I only caught the chat half way through so I’m unsure if it’s just Pelchen’s suggestion or if there’s any substance to it.

Wouldn’t surprise at all if this did eventuate.

I believe it was only given to them on the provision that they keep both picks and keep the two best friends together. That's what I'm hearing anyway

Pelchen is full of it...

Sorry if this has been mentioned elsewhere but someone mentioned there had been discussion in the media that Anderson was not a lock at 2 and might fall to us as GCS will nominate Green at 2 and GWS won't match.

Has anyone else heard this?

Magical if true.

Going by the way the AFL sold the news of its draft concessions to the public (GCS taking two best mates from Victoria to limit the go home factor) I think it would be highly unlikely that the Suns would depart from the script of selecting Rowell and Anderson with 1/2.

But how great would it be if they did?

Every media report I’ve heard/read has stated that GC have already picked Rowell and Anderson. The AFL would not let GC not pick the two, picking two best mates was the excuse the AFL and GC “sold” to the public/media. Can you imagine how bad the AFL would look if GC changed their mind, the AFL will take away the rest of the concessions given to them in that instance.

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
