You need to look a little deeper NC... I was highlighting how ridiculous sweeping, unsubstantiated opinions are. I used a direct quote from another poster who has a track record on such matters.

I thought you were trolling so I opted not to bite.

Wouldn't hurt GC to at least have a look. Would add leadership and professionalism.

And actually get an AFL game too.

If he's looking at a coaching career it wouldn't hurt us to have a look for the same reasons...

But look at the list they were gifted. They were created to be successful quickly, not like the rest of us who developed slowly.

They were given so many top players, that as they traded the surplus, they got more high picks to pick the best again in the next seasons.

They were always going to succeed.

When are people going to see that draft picks are just one piece of the puzzle in winning a premiership.  Gold Coast have had a stack of early picks too with a one year head start.

GC were given similar....

A tale of 2 clubs, early times it looked like GC would be the golden boys and GWS the poor cousins.

Despite the gifts they were given they have done it well and set themselves up for the longer burn whereas GC tried for the quicker success.

...and they now play a tough uncompromising brand of footy.

I take my hat off to Cameron for what he's done with the list, a list that has struggled with injury this year.

I really want this bloke back at the Dees in some capacity. I rate him very highly. He was Cotchin-like in his behind the scenes work and standards while skipper at MFC. A dysfunctional club didn't help but he came through and never altered his professionalism and output. His 2nd season had me thinking "300 game champion right here"!

Assistant coach? Player development role? Player or Coach Liaison between Casey and MFC. Just get him back and don't lose him again.

And like so many Coaches before him, for example Dimma, Buckley, Thompson and even Clarkson, to name a few, who tasted some success, after calls for their dumping, Cameron has outlasted the doubters and got his side into the GF. Now the "experts" are calling for extending his contract.

It's a fickle game.

I agree wholeeheartedly, because the game has "been kind" in a playing sense through no fault of his own. His attitude and pride in MFC was exemplary. He has definitely given his best shot. Well done and.....please find a way to come back to MFC.

Can't understand why port did not play him this year he regular picked up 30+ disposals in the SANFL, writing was on the wall for him, never was really given a chance at port.

Purely the speed of the 2 Codes

Jack was not quick enough for the Top Level

Is it true that Dustin Martin was number 3 in the draft the year we got Trengove at number 2? And Nat Fyfe was further down the list?

You know it's quite easy to research it yourself?

This has been reported so many times over the years people have started to believe it.

Judd was no 1 that year and Cotchin no 2. Martin went at 19 and Trengove wasn't drafted at all that year.

Yes it is true.
See post above.

But at the time no-one blinked an eye when we took Scully and Trengove.
Was always gonna be those 2.

  • POSTGAME: Hawthorn

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?
