I'd take him, especially as we can get him for nothing.  As it says above, we could do a lot worse than having his foot skills coming off half back, and at 22 he still has plenty of footy and potential improvement ahead of him.

I think his style is more like Hunt or Frost out of the backline, just runs and then normally is pretty likely to turn it over.

For what it’s worth I think we are going to give this guy a chance. Good speed and run but iffy disposal obviously.

Opinion or Sauce?

Agree take a risk MFC it will cost us nothing and could pay off big time.

Its time to take a risk or two.

If only we could sign him and find him the perfect life coach..

certainly worth chasing. It would be fair to say there are a lot of players out there who have or played under the influence of drugs,

A typical AFL rumour that should be skwoshed

Wonder if a deal’s been done whereby the club will pick him up in early November as a delisted free agent?

Who knows, we don't leak these days.

I think Redleg was talking about our admin, not our backline.  ?

Why not just trade him for pick 100 if that’s the case? It costs nothing, eliminates the very tiny chance he goes elsewhere, and puts some certainty in the situation for all concerned.

I think the only way to interpret silence is that it means the deal is not yet done.

Hasn't he already been delisted? Meaning we could pick him up now couldn't we?

No rush on it as I assume they will wait until the trade period is over

Delisted free agency windows

Friday November 1 - Monday November 11

Wednesday November 13 - 5pm Friday November 22

Exactly. Under normal circumstances clubs may put together a token trade of very late picks so the player can move prior to preseason training, and the player can do a whole preseason with the new club. However Murray is unable to train with a club until December I believe, so it's pointless to rush it.

If that's the case I wouldn't even sign him during the draft stage, I'd have him train over summer to fight for a preseason supplemental list spot alongside Harley Bennell and any other talented leftovers from the draft, let the best man win.

Thanks mate, wasn't sure how that worked when someone has already been delisted.

Good theory depending on how highly you rate him and whether you are prepared to take the risk that another club will take him before then.

The Swans regarded him very highly and really liked what they saw in the two years he was rookie listed there even though he hadn't played a game yet. They were very unhappy when he left. He had a very good start at the Pies. Has elite speed is a good size  but kicking is not elite. Plenty to work with and he could release Salem up the field to be the weapon we so desperately need for delivering the ball inside 50.

My Collingwood mate can’t believe they are letting him go, it’s a big yes from me

Lots of confusing posts in this thread.  Him ... who?

It’s a 60/40 likelihood that we’ll give him an escape option. Not sure imo but he adds pace.  Disposal needs serious improvement which is common already in our squad.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
