AFL will use the โ€œwe didnโ€™t get the medical report back in timeโ€ excuse again

It's really a disgrace how they bend over backwards not to suspend big name players. It's beyond time where the media should be calling them out on it.

ย

"I've seen the (Hawkins) incident, what I will say is what I think in recent weeks in the AFL is moving away from suspensions.

"I agree with the AFL's approach, you want the best players out there playing so I'd hope there's consistency in that."

What I take from that is heโ€™s happy for someone to clean him up come next weekend.

Seems that way doesnโ€™t it.ย

Open the Floodgates....

Dangerfield is absolutely trying to influence the AFL. ย UNBELIEVABLE ARROGANCE.ย

Hawkins deserves 2 weeks minimum. ย Head high. Off the ball. Medium impact.ย

I am overseas at the moment and planned my trip around being home for the GF and watching the Dees win a flag - seriously what was I thinking??

Clearly, you're stark raving mad like all the rest of us.

Seriously, if you weren't, we'd think there was something wrong with you.

An aside

just turned on to watch the Storm who play in an hour and caught the last half of the NRL women's match.

Excellent quality. As a sport it it appears to be far more transferable quality wise between the genders.

1 week.ย  Doubtless will win no-risk appeal.ย  Staged.

In fairness to my mental state, my husband is a Pies supporter so there was no chance I can extend my holiday even if I want to. I have told him he can go home and I will linger in Italy a bit longer but he was not too impressed with that idea ???

EAD Hawkins. You might kick lots of goals but youโ€™veย always been a staging andย sniping piece of [censored].ย

Clearly Iโ€™m a fan.ย

That would explain a fair bit. What a double whammy. I have no such excuse, being the only football follower in my family. Locked in a prison of my own making. Which may be worse? Even contemplating that could drive me mad(der).

Hawkins should have been rubbed out for 4 to 6 with his record of brutality and shifty behind play incidents and i wouldn't have him at MFC either. This game was set up for Sooky and his team to win no matter what,ย  with the phone calls flying between the AFL and the cats saying things like.........how much off ball interference can we get away with, "Christo" and hisย (ex cat) mate, and then along comes dopey..

ย A pathetic umpiring performance wher the maggots had been instructed to not allow a Team to proceed further that had dared to make a laughing stock of the AFL.......no votes from me!!!!

If it were a boxing match it would be a KO punch. Schofield was down for at least the fullย 10 count. Low impact is a joke.ย

I wonder if the lions got into the finals a year to early. So far they aren't really handling the start gws have got off to and when you see Hodgey kicking it out on the full it's notย a great start.ย

I just wonder if the giants if they get through next week have the guts to apply the same tactics against the pies.ย

Dangerfield is happy for one of the โ€˜bestโ€™ players to clean him up. ย So Lachie Neale is welcome to punch him in the face, without any recriminations.

Best quarter of footy Iโ€™ve watched all year. Had it all. Cameron is a dead set champ playing through the pain. I though he had busted his arm. Carn the bears!

toby is the ultimate villain. Love to hate him and wish we had him

Fabulous quarter... there's a few GWS players who don't like to work hard the other way too often.ย  Hard working teams who can maintain possessionย  reasonably wellย will find them out

Edited by Rusty Nails

No quarter given by either team....both playing socially unfriendly footy.

Robertson's little back slap on Whitfield right in the small of the back where he'd just taken a hit to put him down again.ย  Classic

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecastโ€”20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze โ€” expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isnโ€™t a standard conceptโ€”itโ€™s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking. ย We filled our boots with percentage โ€” now a whopping 520.7% โ€” and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourneโ€™s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
