I think we will definitely select him in the draft. Just seems to be the type of player we would love, hard working and driven.

He will also have plenty of time to develop in the VFL and learn off some fantastic players.

I reckon he will be bid on in the 40-60 range and we will then match.

Agreed.  I think we will pick him up after our initial two picks.

He is the type of youngster Goody would love in the program. Definitely get him into the Choco development group and we have time to get him ready.

Thanks Darkhorse72. The link works but I can't open the link to get all of the other stories. If possible, could you provide an open link to all of the combine results please.

Thats because they linked to The West Newspaper online site, you need to pay. Sorry I don't have membership there either.  Maybe on the AFL site?

Thanks, fastest over 20 meters at the WA testing. I read he clocked 2.89 and 2.9 seconds.  Yet the draft pundits describe him as not quick? Probably because he plays mainly inside contested. Its a string to his bow the Development team can fine tune.

We certainly need another ruck.

The article on Woewodin also refers to Josh Cripps and says he “would love to play in the AFL alongside his brother, Carlton captain Patrick”.

Apparently Shifter Sheehan said on SEN that there would definitely be a bid for Woewodin. Compared him with Mitch Duncan - “a one touch player”.

Ideally after our pick 37....

I still think there's a chance we do some dealing to get that pick into the 20's to make sure.

We only have 4 spots left. If they want to leave one open for Feb, that makes three and suddenly if Woewodin is who they want then just take him.

I think we wait for a bid and then go, unless we are at our last selection when we just grab him then.  Best use of picks and points.  If someone grabs him too early to nail us, we just let him go.  Have to think in terms of where we see him going on OUR list, and anything later than that is a win for us.  Think we have a clear idea where/when that would be, and a clear target for 17.

I guess the recent positive press is good news that we might get a decent player and bad news that we might need to use a higher pick/points on him. I wonder if his ranking is now in the 40-60 range.

I am pretty confident that the Demons will take Taj Woewodin as a Father-Son selection in the 2021 AFL National Draft.

It is certainly uncanny how much he looks like his Father Shane.

From the WA Draft Combine it looks like Taj has a bit of toe on him and is definitely faster than his old man.

I don't know how old you are, but by Christ his old man made the most of his talent. One of the best brilliant/average players I have seen, certainly in Dees colors.

If his boy is cut from the same cloth, we have a solid player in our sights.

In today's 'Road to the Draft', Cal Twomey suggests we will take him and he will go in the back end of the draft.

I remember Watts recording one of the fastest sprint times for someone of his height - never really saw it on game day.  He rarely looked slow but didn't see the explosiveness that you'd notice in some key position players - eg like Frost.

I always find it interesting when these results come through - if you are interested in a player... if they get great results does this make you like them more or less.

If they have poor results maybe it means there's scope for improvement - or does it mean they are unlikely to cut it at a higher level?

These type of results rarely tell much of a story, given they are in isolation. How often would a player get to sprint 20 meters without being impeded, or run 2kms without having to change direction or even with the agility have to come to a complete stop.

It's good to know he has these attributes, but he has to be able to use them. I'm sure Trac's not in the quickest in the club for the 20 meter sprints but he gets out of a pack nearly quicker than anyone just due to his power, and the same as Frost, he was lightning quick - unless he had to think, then he was one of the slowest players off the mark.

That take-off speed is impressive and it must be realised that it is well short of a fuller, more distance-oriented full sprint than just a short 20 metre start. The full sprint takes (even the best athletes) at least 30 metres to be in the speed zone, accelerating further to 50 - 70m and then the finishing 30m to be sustained on top of that. He ain't running 100m from the midfield around an Olympic park to be in the play, so what he is achieving is well on the 'elite' level in respective requirements for the clearance in Aussie Rules footy, once possession or 'teaming' to receive has been ticked off. These talents are displayed (game in, game out) by our two 'invincables' who just fortified our winning of the Flag: Clarrie and Trac. Seems as though he is going to fit in nicely?

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
