Good

He would be a great acquisition. Have a word to him Jordan. Get him to Melbourne, not St Kilda!

A big yes from me.  Add Lewey as the backline coach also pls.

Burgess already in place.

Carey, Dermie or Rooey in as forward craft / strategy coach.

Hodgey in as the assistant (2ic) to Goody (and other tweaks to recruiting/trade crew) and we're set to go for the next 5 years.

Lewis as midfield coach, Roughy as forward coach, Rawlings back in defence, [censored] off chaplin

I somehow suspect Lewis may tell him to not bother with MFC as it is a basket case!

Hard to mount an argument  presently

I know! Make him defensive coach!  And lets make some mufti defender from menangatang the forwards coach.  This is what we have done this year.  I would bring him in as a specialist mentor and forward skills development.

Roughead has already stated that he would like to work in List Management and apparently the Dees are prepared to involve him in that area with other areas obviously to be looked at. He would learn the role of List Management probably working under our current List Manager. IMO it would all depend on whether Lewis is involved with us next year as an Assistant Coach. He has good friends at other clubs, but staying in Melbourne and at a club with his best mate and learning the area he wants to be involved in, would IMO see him with us.

We could do worse than have Roughie teaching Weideman and Petty the finer details about forward craft. Maybe he can teach our coach too.

That sounds more like a tv commentary team...

Talking Footy just said that Goodwin and Clarko would be doing a press conference with Jordan Lewis for his retirement over the next few days, and Hodge will retire and look for media/assistant opportunities. So I mean, maybe the stars might be aligning. Goodwin acknowledging he's so far out of the loop this week and maybe bringing in some clarko footy and its evolutionary offshoots IP.

Obviously a 'wish list' on the 3 forwards suggestion JD.  Can't see any of them, other than maybe Rooey, on big multiples of current media $, coming down for a short stint.

We could do alot worse than surround ourselves with a 'Hawthorn' biased crew of assistants and line coaches IMV JD.  I would be ecstatic to see a combo of Lewey, Roughy and Hodge join us.

What an amazing get Hodgey would be,  not just for his experience, footy knowledge and a succession option (whether Goody makes it or not) but also the drawing power those three would have getting potential top line recruits over the line in the super competitive trade circus.

All is forgiven if that was to come off. Also solved the problem of a mentor type role. With lewis and Roughy he might be ok.

That was my first thought.

Saints appear to be the front runners and reportedly have already put a proposal to Roughy.  He has a close relationship with Ratten so if he gets the senior coaching role (which looks likely) I doubt he will come to us.  Saints a more known quantity on many fronts.

Well Hawthorn's off field line up has been full of former Demons: Neitz, Yze, even Clarkson so it's time something came back our way.

Hell, they even got Mark Evans.

I am also keen on Ooze making his long awaited return now he's been at Clarko's shoulder this year. And yes, I've said it on other threads but that's not stopping me repeating it.

Ditto.  Another year or two under the master wouldn't hurt either Pit.

There's no guarantees he will come back to us but himself and/or Hodgey would be very handy assets to have sitting in the box with Goody.  Hodgey very handy on the interchange as a strong voice also when needed.

Chris Fagan. Todd Viney. Cameron Bruce.

And the merger is almost complete...

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

  • PREGAME: West Coast

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
