Agreed. For his size he is very light footed and athletic.

People comparing him to Jones and Lewis on the wing have NO idea. He is also an elite mark, and how often were we coming out of the backline this season with literally nobody to kick to (except Gawn vs. 19 opponents)?ย

We lost Hogan who played so well roaming up the ground and taking marks as a link upย man. Tomlinson really fills that gap and will allow us to transition the ball more purposefully up forward.ย

Some sense for a change on this.

Time trial winner consistently at GWS and probably can kick. He will be hard to stay with for opposition teams.

194 cm at 96kg with a tank - Tomlinson

The others are 180 and 87kg(jones) and 186 and 86kgs. No comparison.

Garry Lyon was 193 and 96KG - Interesting to give a true comparison.- No pressure though

Spoke extremely well on both trade radio and SEN. We've got yourself a fantastic individual who will add a lot not only on field but more importantly off field.

More importantly? Leadership and some experience is nice, if he can deliver it and others can follow.ย But winning the press conferences don't matter if you can't deliver on field.

Not a bad looking guy. Complexion really suits red and blue.

I am backing the club to bounce back next year.

Im with you both, we will be better, we have to many good players to be a bottom 8 side. I think we bounce and we bounce into the 8.

This guy is too slow for the wing. ย Hang on, Goody thought he could get away with Lewis and Jones on the G versus the tigers for memory.

He is perfect.

Richmond have been going all out for fast and tough. ย Melbourne have continually been attracted to one-paced and/or non-physical. ย Do the maths. ย One is headed for a dynasty; the other for another rebuild on rebuild on rebuild. ย Lucky for the club that our supporters tolerate the slow and steady path to chronic failure. ย Our appetite for snake oil is unsurpassed.

At best, Tomlinson is a good 2nd ruck, 3rd tall forward or back. ย Preuss is now very much water in Goodyโ€™s snake oil.

You mean like the Richmond GF wingers Brandon Ellis who they loved so much they let him go to GC and Josh "express snail" Caddy?

Weโ€™ll wait and see. ย Interesting to see how he goes on the wing. ย I have Langdon in the other wing position.ย

I think heโ€™s a good addition because of his experience and versatility. ย Has strength and size to play chf or CHB

But even more important is his footskills.ย

Its more about endurance - you need some speed but the ability to run up and down all day is more important IMO. And he can mark which gives us two down the line options with max.

Will be interesting when Clarko tries Frosty on the wing too....and 2nd ruck pinch hit.

Interesting chat on Trade Radio this morning. Tomlinson was saying that it was Goodyโ€™s pitch to him that really impressed him when deciding on the Dees as his club of choice amongst the Saints and Dogs (cant wait for all the synicsย here to claim its 100% about the $$$). Also said he feels his best positions are within the midfield which from where I took it was on-ball,ย as well as on and center half back. However in an interview yesterday said that the clubโ€™s idea was to play him on the wing and in the forward line. Will be intersting to see where he fits in, although Iโ€™d like to see him sit in one position to find some stability and only move him if thereโ€™s a desperate need to fill a hole on gameday.

Possibly used as a rotating wing/forward like what we were doing with TMac/Hogan in 2018.

Fairly certain TGR is a Tigers supporter.

He was always a Terry Wallace fanboi, but it seems he worships Clarko these days.

Not a Melbourne 'supporter' in the true sense of the word.

I want to give him a good 10 matches to start the seasonon the wing and see how it pans out. With Langdon on the other we hopefully start to get more 2-way running happening which was a major flaw in our game this year. Who knows, maybe will spark something :). Go dees!

I think this is a mistake. Frost will prove himself to be better than Tomlinson and Tomlinson will struggle just like he has at GWS.

...do you mean struggle as in 24, 24 & 25 games the last three seasons, including finals?

Are you suggesting that GW$$ would have more success without such a (to use a horrible term much loved by some negative posters here) a list clogger. ย Maybe he was "just s depth player" making up the numbers?

We need blokes like Oliver, Viney, Harmes and Bradshaw to be doing the gut-running. Yeah, our wingers will do it too, but if the inside guys don't do it, we get smashed on the outside.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecastโ€”20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze โ€” expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isnโ€™t a standard conceptโ€”itโ€™s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking. ย We filled our boots with percentage โ€” now a whopping 520.7% โ€” and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourneโ€™s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
