Sam Frost - Contract status

Frost shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as Petty and Oscar, as a defender he's 10 Flemington straights in front of those two...

And ten Flemington Straights in front of Viney who's disposal is average!

First article in any media of Frost being re-signed https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl-daily-rolling-footy-news-from-across-australia-for-wednesday-august-28/live-coverage/267248fd4df505f60a9f82c0f11563e7 (behind paywall)

No mention of length of term, also says Jones will sign on a minimum contract with incentives.

Melbourne full back Sam Frost will join Nathan Jones in soon committing to the club as Ed Langdon prepares to move to the Demons.

Frost turned 26 today and while he has provided some hairy moments with his risky dashes from defence has the pace to be a quality shut-down defender.

He had been told he is a wanted player, with talks underway.

Love Frost, he's an excitement machine who never stops trying and I hope he becomes a 150+ game clubman.

I wish i could like this twice, the stunned mullet look after the tackle is brilliant.

I must say I have a soft spot for Frosty, he continues our tradition of, how should I put this... enigmatic key defenders, Prymke, Shanahan, Ingerson, Nicholson, Carroll.

Frosty's chase and subsequent jumper destroying tackle on Petrucelle in Perth was probably my number 1 favorite highlight for the year!

God i loved that moment... the result not so much.

Nicholson enigmatic? Really? Phlegmatic...maybe.

(I've assumed you're talking about Alistair, not Daniel).

Me too.  He showed genuine improvement this year and, as the third tall (with May and Lever) he could be a real asset in the backline.

More than deserving of a new contract.

Agreed WB, wonder how much interest there was out there for him.

Glad to hear Frost will soon sign a new contract with us.

He is one of the few improved players on the list and one who gives us 100% effort.

You never know really.  Would a Western Bulldogs, or even a St. Kilda, be knocking on his door?  Gold Coast could certainly use him too.  His job on Ben Brown in the final round is proof of his ability, even though he is still prone to the odd brain fade which seems to be a prerequisite of playing for the club.

Yep same same. Ive watched about 30 times I reckon and never get sick of it. Frosty has pace, x factor and grunt. Also he is def getting better at doing the relaible basics a bit better. Certainly in our best 22 imo. Id pick him ahead of Hibbard , Omac and  lever atm and he was better value than Lever at the end of the season. Happy with this news!

I thought Gold Coast might be keen.

Also if i'm not mistaken I believe its his birthday today. Happy Birthday big fella!!!

Couldn’t agree more red.

Some other players on the list could follow his example.

Frosty tries his guts out every week. He makes a few blues here and there, but he tries, and his footy is exciting (and only occasionally scary) -and never boring! His effort out back (and up the ground during one of his famed dashes) is something we will need more of next year, and should be looked up to. Frosty, Lever, May, Nev, Hore - makes for a potent backline.

This is great news.

Frost has now played 91 games and will hit the 100 game mark next year which really starts to put him in that experienced category now. I can see him elevating his game again if he can work on his deficiencies over the off season.

Sorry Stigga, but Ingerson is an absolute class above any KPD that has played with or after him at our club (May TBD)
