I am not sure whether the option is lost at all! No applications have been lodged so there have been no refusals. Dan has no love ideologically for the (so-called) “East Melbourne lobby”.

Ch7 are not always right

lets hear some more confirmation before we close the discussion

I’m still okay for the Demons to relocate to Perth.

I reckon the loss of the Jolimont option is all down to Pert. He came out all gung ho pre state election and gave Dirty Dan the option to say no to appease the East Melbourne lobby.

Wasn’t it Bartlett?

It was never going to fly. Taking over public space in the 21st century ! Desperate at best.

I can’t believe Bill Shorten has promised the Pies a $70Million upgrade of their Olympic Park facilities, including a “Women’s Sports hub”! (As reported on the front page of this morning’s Herald Sun ) > This doesn’t inspire me to vote Labor! ?

Not quite true 'CB'...apparently Bill has guaranteed Labour will go ahead with the liberal promise of $15 million that was in Frydenberg's budget.

Unusual for the Herald Sun to mislead...

...and also disappointing that we're nowhere to be seen when the money is going around.

Disgraceful were not involved, shame on the AFL and Vic government. Not one cent given to the MFC over all these years from the state government, while other clubs get the red carpet treatment.

No government will throw money at losers, especially losers who are perceived as silvertails.

Oh more good news. Thrilled The pies are getting are well deserved  cash injection to upgrade their below par facilities. Me second favourite club after Hawthorn

It’s ok because we’ve got pert now .....and he gets these things across the line....right.

I miss Roos and pj.

I don't know...it's easy to get this funding.

Just say you're setting up some kind of gender equality facility and bingo...

On a more serious note...we were the leaders in womens football, had the foresight to get the whole thing going and now we seem to be languishing at the bottom of the pack when the money comes.

I just hope Pert has something he's holding back on at the moment.

Certainly holding back his presence.

I doubt it. It’s one the issues that has consistently plagued us and, imo, kept us at the bottom since we left the mcg. Why would “mr 70k” have any more luck dealing w the realities of our situation than previous others?  The fact he went so public on Yarra park , when it actually was so tenuous has made me doubt his capacity.

In these times, when players pick and choose their destinations it’s growing in importance by the day. I’m afraid it’s going to cripple us ( again) before too long if a solution isn’t found asap.

Wasn't it PM Gillard who threw $27M at the Bulldogs to tidy up the western Oval???????

Not saying he has 'Daisy'...

When I say Pert, I mean the club.

He is the face of the club on issues like this.

I hope he, Bartlett and the board are working furiously behind the scenes to get some commitments for our future.

While they remain tethered to Yarra Park rjay I seriously doubt anything will happen.

If not already they need to start working on plan B

Let me make this claim based on no inside information...

I predict that Collingwood will relocate their training facilities to Victoria Park and we will take over theirs at Olympic Park.  Collingwood will choose to move because of a multi-million dollar upgrade supported by Federal and/or State Governments. Our new facilities will also be upgraded as part of the deal. While the fingerprints of Gary Pert will be found all over the plans, it will be Eddie McGuire who will bask in the glory of taking Collingwood "home".

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
