He has been no better or worse than Lever and May who have both done SFA

Not sure i agree there Jaded.

When Hunt took that mark on the wing all by himself... In the old days he would have just taken off and headed for goal.  Now, he stood and waited.

I miss the old days.

Finally a short kick to an outlet from the square who plays on finds a target and we link up off HB.  This shld be happening half the time at least.  Where has it been?  Continually running ball out of the square and kicking long to a contest is too precitable and rarely gets the ball beyond mid field.

Petty's been good..making the most of limited opportunities.  Playing IN FRONT!

Have to agree. How come they can take the ball the full length of the ground by kicking it to each other, when we suffer a concentration lapse after one short kick.

We just might get there today... It would be a win for guts and tenacity

I was laughing at the idiots suggesting we needed a rebuild . . . But . . . We drafted a hell of a lot of "see ball get ball" types that also happen to be dumb. The runners at least used to help these players setup properly and identify trends. We're absolutely cooked now without them. I was wrong.

100 % said the same thing to my mate this quarter regarding our see ball get ball players. No smarts at all. Look at the amount of time 3 blokes go for the opposition player with the ball leaving 3-4 alone waiting for the handball receive

Hey we are still right in this. Reading this thread you would think we are 35pts down.........

They threw everything at us in that quarter.  80% time in their forward half and only managed to extend the lead by 5 points.

If we avoid the normal Goody chaos game and can play some decent possession footy (less turnovers) we are in with a slim chance.

Fritz!! Like him in the forward line

Their forwards are rolling in front of defenders and presenting whenever they attack

Ours are lagging behind waiting

Agree. Need W.Carey in as our forwards coach

Vineys game a lot more subtle and relaxed, less crash and bash.

Salo has saved our backside more than once today.

Any chance of Hannan contributing something. FMD, he has been a passenger for weeks.

Agree on this. He is surviving on 2018 form and our lack of fit players. Needs to lift NOW

SALEM thank God!

how many 1%ers does he give us!

Trust Petraca to [censored] up a simple kick for goal which costs us 2

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
