Guys in the world cup Finch was referred for an LBW not out decision.  The review then showed the ball clearly hitting middle and off stump well below the bails.

Instead of the not out decision being reversed they said "umpires (original) call" .. not out.

Can anyone explain why that was pls?

Pitched outside off, impacting outside off, hence coatrack call - and he’s already called it not out, but I suspect more cos he thought it might I have hit the bat first

Sri Lanka are not bowling well at all

No Libba no Footscray?

Thx ww.  So if it impacted in line they would have reversed the call even though it pitched outside off?

Lol, security pacing up and down the aisles, every fan on notice it seems. Do we need to be looking over our shoulders celebrating now?

Off injured at the start of the second.

What an abysmal example of a captain he is. He should be ashamed of himself, but I'm guessing he probably isn't. Am I being harsh? Yes, and I don't care. Sometimes a spoiled brat needs to be told the truth.

Agreed. He’s a real dopey [censored] and [censored] bloke.

I agree with everyone's poor opinion of Stratton on here. My only request is please don't call him a dog or call it a dog's act. Dogs are gentle , loyal creatures who do not deserve to be put in the same category as some humans. Thank you.

Good call Dame Gaga. I have been guilty of using ‘dog’ incorrectly, too. The most wonderful, loving and as you say loyal of creatures. To borrow a Bill Murray quote: “I won’t trust a person who doesn’t like dogs. But I’ll always trust a dog when it doesn’t like a person.”

Wow Stratton is rightly looking a fool. Pinching and stomping? Is he 12 years old?

embarressing.

Respect to Fantasia for how he handled it

Quite right. Stratton’s behaviour was very catty.

By standing by and laughing when Stratton harassed Charlie Cameron, the umpires gave him the ok to pinch.  The MRO furthered that license by not acting on that incident.

Knowing he is a serial offender, Channel 7 must have had a camera following Stratton (a good thing) and his dirty work was there for all to see.  As was his smugness thinking he was getting away with it.

Apparently, his pinching of a player's side and abdomen are worse than Fantasia's arm.

But umpires/MRO should have stopped it a few weeks ago.  Hope he gets suspended.

The umpires could (at the AFL's direction) stamp out all such behaviour very quickly. Just pay a free for the slightest punch etc.  Coaches would soon crack down on any players who gave away stupid frees.  Instead they ignore the initial punch in plain sight and pay a free against the retaliator which produces a positive reinforcement for doing those cat-acts in the first place.  (Yes, I like dogs and don't like cats.)

When it comes to umpires, the AFL don't know if they're Arthur or Martha.  They don't seem to have any underlying beliefs about what refereeing should be. Nothing to underpin their decision making, only (as per usual) seat-of-the-pants reaction. Their normal reaction is (as in this instance) to shut the stable door after the horse has bolted.

Another one was the "absolutely no contact with umpires in any way shape or form" last year. Then Brayshaw low-fived one and it was celebrated. Which is it? Absolutely no contact, or benign relationship-building contact? The AFL don't seem to know, so how would the umpires or the players?

I think the umpires are just as confused about this and their broader role in the game, because they get no support from headquarters ... unless it's of the "too little too late" form.

They don't get backed up generally, their decisions (or lack of) are undermined by the MRO and even the MRO is undermined by the tribunal.

I think that filters into indecision about refereeing in general, as exemplified by the above instances.

I think that amongst themselves, the umps should agree that smiling and mugging with players is off limits, but I can understand why they would feel abandoned no matter what they do.

You may laugh at this but I think he will get 1-2 weeks for each incident.

Both are a bad look for the game.

The stomp could have caused a serious injury and Christian loves that category and the pinching did cause an injury and it was repeated.

If Stratton thinks that is acceptable in footy he is a fool.

Tell that to a ravaged Koala. DG.  Or a Sheep or Calf with its innards hanging out... In they're normal state,  Dogs are vicious.animals.

Many people and children have been ripped open by them.

This is what that saying,  represents.

What about the saying  'Hard as a Cats head'...  how many here use that term.

That is a term used to deliberately denigrate a warm blooded mammal,  and is encouraging the cruelty to Cats,  and that its,  an OK sport.

I had to stop a young friend years back,  from deliberately running down a cat...  he steered off line to try to get it.   So I grabbed the wheel in a vice like grip...   he had to stop the car,  and could not move-on,  until the issue was settled.

This was somebody's beloved pet...  maybe an older lonely Australian,  or maybe a child.?

So lets not be biased here.

The person that mowed the grass at Blundstone is surely tripping. What kind of pattern is that?

My Orange Men are bringing it home... the petrie dish is boiling.

Be positive ... if they win the GF there'll be some cast offs as they deal with their salary cap.

Patton could be a negative trade (salary wise) if they want  a good draft pick.

PLEASE! Cats don't have opposable thumbs to enable them to pinch people!  I should set my cats on Stratton to teach him a lesson! But they are too lazy. They only want to eat and sleep. Smarter than us, their servants. LOL.

To be honest, I have never heard of the term, but it is just as bad! I have two cats and I would be horrified if something happened to them, especially if it was done deliberately. Pets are part of people's families. That's terrible. Watch some animal rescue channels and see what so called humans do to defenseless animals and how they treat them. It breaks your heart.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
