Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

19 of the past 29 premierships have been won by coaches who previously won premierships as players. 66%.

Satyricon gave 2 examples, I countered with 12. Add David Parkin to the list.

Bump.

I have no idea what the level of his ability is but it appears to be the old easy out. Much easier to replace one coach than 20 players who are not up to it. Took us the best part of six years to make a significant improvement to the list.

Why is SOS not on the way out at the same time, he is after all the archithect of their list and he has been there some time.

SOS is a beloved son - as he could be a frequently great player, albeit a little untidy. This anointed status frees SOS from accountability to a large extent; it will be external-to-Carlton observers who call for a revision of his decisions and post-footy playing inputs. I'd reckon he is as safe as houses and yes, the Coach was the easy way out of the dilemma - for the time being.

If anything, you're just proving the opposite of your point - given how many great players there are, that's a tiny list. In reality, very very few great players go on to be great coaches.

There is a big difference tho,  'b181'.   A big difference.

Footy is a game, which unfortunately these days is analysed 24/7, nobody dies if your team loses, we have a myriad of media, all chasing the next headline, which encourages tge next paragraph

Some of the trolling displayed on here, not only against other posters, but also players like Omac and Weid disgusts me

Carlton sacked a coach, you would think with all the media that Bolton was a child killer, he wasn't, he is a guy that failed at his job and was moved on, happens every day in ' the real world', except of course in politics and unions

We should take them over. They have some good kids, a good trading ground and club facilities.

Just  pander to the Carltonites for five years by using the jumper every now and then.

we will pick up 10% of their supporters and have a great facility in inner Melbourne.

It would be way cheaper than all the hair brain schemes suggested to give us a home.

Oh no Please. Its over thirty years ago but I still have nightmares over the Hawthornmerger/takeover and its resultant bastard Whoreborn.

Anyone who makes war-like metaphors for a game of footy should be sentenced to 4 years of national service with 1RAR. Maybe then they'd understand the difference.

The sad part is that there are many others at Carlton from the President down, who have failed at their jobs more than Bolton but either won't stand down or won't be sacked. It's the club that has failed, more than the coach.

Nice deflection and some holier than thou nonsense. Sport as war metaphors have been used by scribes, journos, writers and pundits for as long as ink has been wetting paper. Suggest you get used to it.

As someone who lost mates during deployments, no, i don't have to get used to it. Neither does Saty. Jog on sad little man, you have no idea what you're on about.

This thread is a great study in human behaviour. MB made what I thought was a pretty innocuous metaphor, but offended a few who are understandably more sensitive about it due to very real lived experiences. However instead of apologising and backing down, MB gets on the front foot and drives it in as hard as possible, p**ses everyone off and gets his butt kicked by admin. All for what I can see is for no reason other than pure stubbornness and unwillingness to see the world through the eyes of others.

Pretty entertaining stuff, but not if you’re coming in looking for a discussion about Bolton.

Demonland is an interesting cross section of the community. Many here would never communicate with each other in the real world. It is not surprising that from time to time we fail to communicate satisfactorily and more particularly fail to understand another's point of view. I personally am annoyed by things that normally I would walk away from. One of the great things about Demonland is communicating with others with a different point of view. I am sure we have geniuses, idiots, savants, druggies, drunkards and deviates (hello uncle) but we are all Demons. Perhaps before we throw a grenade (can I say that?) we take a kinder tack and cut some slack.

Aaaanyways....

I fully expect other to fall on  their sword soon enough. This cannot be just on Bolton himself. Still amazed SOS has escaped the heat.

People complain about our president being quite behind the scenes, but after watching the press conference the other week i sure as hell glad we dont have their president Mark LoGiudice running our ship. He's been through 3 sacked  coaches, and still delusional to the point where he feels like hes doing a fine job and it was all on the coach. His stubbornness to take any form of responsibility is quite pathetic.

Go on Carlton bigfootg and you will see the supporters share the same concern.

Presumably the Carlton members can vote for a change of President. I am quite surprised that there hasn't been much conjecture about a Board putsch, either.

SOS seems to have done alright with the spine, but it's a bit like shooting fish in a barrel with all the #1 picks they've had, let alone first rounders.

I'm on record as panning SOS' time at GWS for the same reasons. They had all the concessions you could hope for in order to get that club up and running and he made some good calls, but a hell of a lot of misses.

The article I read when Bolton got the sack certainly brought up SOS as being under the microscope too. As should be the case.

Pity Bolton got the sack though, because he was an ordinary coach and I was hoping Carlton would remain pathetic for many seasons to come. This might now hit the re-set button. Surely, they won't go with another newbie. My money's on Ratten. Carlton has the stench of the old boy's club that the MFC had about it, prior to PJ's arrival. I concur with those saying there's more to go here.

It's funny MD, my view of Demonland is that it's an online version of the "Grumpy Old Men" tv show. Most of us seem to support the dees, although this is still an unproven theory.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
