RIP Anna - a beautiful soul taken too soon.

Heartbreaking stuff.

Unbelievably hard to explain to the boys.

All the very best wishes to the family.

You never get over this stuff. Ever.

What absolutely heartbreaking, gut-wrenching news. Unimaginably sad.

Condolences to all her family and friends

I would want the world to end if I lost my wife.

Thoughts are with Brad, his kids, and family.

R.I.P Mrs Green

No, no, no. This is terrible. So young and with two little boys. Sincere condolences to Brad, his family, his wife's family and their friends.

May God look upon Brad and his two boys. They would  surely have plenty of support and hope the MFC start some sort of fund to help them in the hour of need.  God Bless.

Cardiac arrest according to news.com

Still so sad about this. I would not survive if I lost my mum or my partner. My heart breaks for those kids and for Brad.

I saw this yesterday on Brad’s Instagram and have found myself thinking about it multiple times over the past 24 hours. What an absolute tragedy, been recently married myself I couldn’t imagine what it would be like to lose your wife let alone the mother of your children on top of that.

Really puts life into perspective, a bad day at work, stuck in traffic, the small minute things that we get caught up on in our day to day lives really mean nothing. Let alone a lot of us getting caught up on the current state of our football side, it’s sad it takes tragedies like this to realise what is really important in life.

I am sure the club will get around Brad & his family and provide the support needed

Great post.

Heartfelt condolences  to him and his family.

Absolute gem of a bloke.

sad so to read this , no words can be said

my deepest condolences goes out to you brad and family

anyone who has lost a wife ( partner )  , the mother of their children , I can tell you its so F&*King hard , so hard to tell the kids so hard to get up again

try explain it to a 6, 9 and 11 year old , I can feel you pain Brad and know exactly whats coming , I really hope the club gets around you and you have support . you will miss your wife everyday , every  minute , the little things that break you down , over and over again

you never forget , you sadly learn to live with it . I tell my kids about their mum any chance i can.

Mark

I met Brad 5-6 times and he was such a great bloke. Friendly. Smiling. He stood up despite the Demons dark years.

I am sad for Brad, his boys and Family and friends for their loss.  Such a tragic loss.  It’s heartbreaking.  MFC must ensure he is supported now and watch over him.

So sad for you Brad. Lovely guy. Thoughts and prayers with you and your boys.

Heartbreaking to hear, my deepest condolences to Brad and his boys. Very tragic.

Others have said it. Perspectives are altered. I hope Brad has support that he will need,

As a Melbourne player he earnt our applause. He gave us so much enjoyment we can surely provide him with any comfort he desires.

This is an event that can define the club, I hope we can meet the challenge.

Anna and I have a mutual friend. The complications from her eye surgery is extremely rare. It occurs in 0.9% of cases and to varying degrees. Sadly in Anna’s case it was the most extreme degree.

I had exactly the same surgical procedure in January and I vaguely remember the surgeon discussing this sort of complication but as it was an emergency situation and the alternative was to lose my vision, I put this complication in the back of my mind and went ahead and had the surgery with no complications- thank God.

Rest assured the MFC community will rally around Brad and their young family. I feel so sad for everyone involved. ??

Thanks for the update jane02.   So sad for Brad and his boys.

So glad your surgery went well.  All the best.

Maybe a blood clot that went to her brain/heart. I'm only assuming its something along those lines as it was reported she passed from cardiac arrest.

@jane02 would know more.  It really sucks, thats for sue.

I had eye surgery about 10 days ago (day surgery) and i am fine, but this really rocked me to the core when i read about this tragedy :(

It's a terrible tragedy and a reminder that all forms of surgery have some risk. Let's keep that in mind given how many times our footballers (in fact, most footballers) go under the knife during their careers.

So very sorry for Brad & his families.

I've been stuck for words, stunned.  I didn't even recall Green'y was married...  and kids as well.

Just ah, what a loss.

I don't know how anyone can... It would be tough to even carry on.

I guess, the purpose in this is the Kids,   that/they gives one the strength,  to maintain momentum.

What, your kidding me.    I can't believe it.    So there was not lead in to this sad thing,  for any of thm to prepare.

Very moving to see Brad's two little boys run out with the team.  He looked very proud.  Undoubtedly, their Mum also was.

  • GAMEDAY: Geelong

It's Game Day, and reinforcements are finally arriving for the Demons—but will it be too little, too late? They're heading down the freeway to face a Cats side returning home to their fortress after two straight losses, desperate to reignite their own season. Can the Demons breathe new life into their campaign, or will it slip even further from their grasp?

  • PREVIEW: Geelong

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit.
Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithy’s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and it’s 1½ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.
