Keilty, Omac, Jeffy and if we are gonna call a spade a spade Tracca and Gus deserve to be dropped.

Petracca? Jeff?! GUs? Are you MAD?!?!

WOW - the actual football nous on here is just way more of a blind spot than one could EVER anticipate! OUR SINGLE BIGGEST PROBLEM R1-5 was Groundball gets all over the ground, most of all between both arcs.. Jeffry has been a major help in this area and will only improve with time, allowing us a bit extra fwd 50 pressure also, another weakness but Petracca leads ENTIRE COMP in ground ball gets per game IFWD50 - with 3.0 per game.. and you wanna drop him?! Do you actually SEE our entries?! Wow..

Seriously ppl just need to stop the BS and realise we’ve been DECIMATED by inj to ALL our speed and pressure players, understand we’ve FINALLY got some grit & groundball cut through, and hope like hell we get some stability & likes of Hannan, Smith, Smith, Vanders, Jetta, May, Lever, KK etc back by back half in time to storm home or reinvest for momentum into 2020.

So sick of keyboard warriors bagging the players they find easy targets without ANY actual insight!!!

In: Tim Smith, Neal Bullen, Baker, Pruess

Out: Melksham, Hibberd, Keilty & Lewis.

This is what I think it will be too. Also think this is the best case scenario

Is this a joke? 5 minimum changes if true? Lever will be playing on his own at Casey on his return.

If not a few of us Demonlanders may need to put the boots on for Casey!! I'm out as to old and up in Qld

Baker to debut

Have really looked forward to The Ginger Ninja playing.

Hope he isn't too nervous under the friday night lights.

Doesn't need to have a blinder,  If he just plays his role all will be happy.

It was a slight overreaction, the bloke he was responding to just said a few players "deserve to be dropped" - i don't see how that's keyboard warrioring.

I don't think he is referring to that post only.

Preuss emergency, bit of a surprise

Doing what Port did, going mobile and ugly inside 50

Wow no preuss.

Great to see baker and petty in though.

Any truth to the rumour Trac is driving hogan’s Ute over for him?

?

I watched Petty last weekend at windy hill. He played ok but hardly a "pickme" game.

But I suppose we have so many injuries there simply is no one else.

Agreed. But we missed out as Petty somehow got the nod above Preuss.  I thought we needed relief for big Maxy.

We excel at going ugly inside 50. The challenge is to get it in quick enough so that the forward line is not clogged up.

Ball movement needs to be quick off half back with run and carry through the middle of the ground and getting the ball in deep entries. Shallow entries and the boys will see the ball flying back over their heads quickly.

We need to play a high risk, high reward game with Frosty as the sweeper. He has the pace required.

I can’t wait to see Baker, Petty and the game plan we bring

I second this - Petracca has been one of our best players for the past month and while Jeffy doesn't get alot of 'stats' he has been an important part of our ability to retain the ball in our forward 50.

I wonder if one of our key backs is under a cloud with Petty named in the team and Pruess as an emergency.

Wet conditions forecast for Perth.

Gee, it is a young team and in the emergencies Pruess & Wagner have some senior experience but Chandler & Sparrow are first year. Will Casey be able to field a team?  I suspect emergencies will be on the first flight home Friday night in time for the VFL.

Congratulations and good luck to Oskar on his debut

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
