The club have issued a statement about an incident that occurred after the match.  Didn’t happen near us (and we stayed back for a Bevvie or 2).  ANy Demonlanders affected / know what happened?

was it this one?

That looks pretty ordinary by the MFC supporter. From the audio it appears he's going a disables person.

Very ordinary stuff.

Even worse the bloke was disabled and unable to defend himself.

What is wrong with these people?

No excuse for this rubbish at the footy. One of the great things about our game is that going to a game is a family safe environment. Ban the bloke for life, we don’t want peanuts like that supporting our club

Apparently the hawks fan has form with this sort of stuff, not condoning what the dees fan did but if you can’t handle your emotions and decide to knock beers out of people’s hands then stay at home and watch, I would ban both of them

You know what...  like Gaff last year,  we don't know what the people are dealing with right now in their lives.

I am happy for the people investigating this,  to find the truth of the situation.

From the footage shared on the TV, no one has covered themselves in glory. Violence can never be condoned.  Whether it is to purposefully knock a guys beer all over him, or to retaliate with punches to the head.

This is the sort of stuff that ruins the experience for everyone.

The Hawks fan was lucky he wasn't wearing a Geelong jumper. If the offender was  in a cats jumper he would have got away with it....

(On a serious note, no need to whack someone even if they are a Hawks supporter and probably deserved it)

Captain of a premiership fancy going into round 8 with a 2-5 win-loss record.

Who cares. Bad [censored] happens everyday, much worse than this. I don’t feel the need to be outraged by this whatsoever. Plus no one knows the full story, don’t just go by a few seconds worth of footage which doesn’t show what happened prior.

Disgraceful attitude.

Men in this country think punching is OK.

If the Melbourne supporter couldn't deal with someone (whether disabled or not) knocking his beer out of his hand without resorting to violence, he's an embodiment of a cultural problem we have.

If your response is "who cares", you're not helping.

I heard from a friend who attended the match that the Hawks supporters were very abusive when they thought they would beat us. Then they went quiet when we won.

What this guy did was totally unacceptable but the AFL is largely to blame. I don’t take my young children to the football very often because in the last 10 years the behaviour of opposition fans has deteriorated immensely, largely because so many thugs seem intent on getting smashed on beer and insulting our supporters, rather than being true football fans.

The AFL don’t care. They just want increased revenue.

The first match I ever took my son to, 5 years ago a Bulldogs fan king hit an older Demons supporter right next to us at the end of the game. It was pretty awful stuff and I see trouble nearly every match I attend now. I think that crowd segregation will arrive sooner rather than later if the AFL does not prioritise the game rather than simply making big profits.

The difference is that these drunken fools only have to pick a fight with the wrong person just the once and they will regret it for the rest of their lives. Either they will kill someone and go to prison for a long time or someone who really knows how to defend themself will retaliate and really hurt them

If the Hawks fan did knock the beer out of the MFC fans hand then I agree they both should be banned. Punching someone for knocking a beer out of your hand is not on and should be charged with assault.

The Hawks supporter is mentally disabled. Was on the news tonight. Bald bloke called him a [censored] [censored], [censored] [censored] etc in the lead up.

No one should be condoning that sort of behavior or victim blaming the mentally disabled hawk supporter who was assaulted.

Absolutely gutless from the bald bloke and hope he is dealt with harshly. This sort of thing has become far too common in our society. Lay down the law. Ashamed he’s a demon ?
