Just heard the best description of a blatant free kick which was not given against Roughead. A commentator called it "the good bloke rule." Enough said.

There there...it's ok Roughy we'll overlook that one!ย  What's that you say?ย  Yes of course all four of us!

Just hope we continue in the last quarter and donโ€™t fade out.ย

Harmesย and Salem really stepping it up! Lockhart and Stretch decent as well. Keep fighting boys!

Why are Hawthorn allowed to shepherd the man on the mark, but no other team is allowed?

Has been a tactic they have used for at least three seasons.ย  Takes away one player from downfield but is an interesting tactic

Melk is horribly off his best

ย

Hooray...you have to physically be dragged down to get a free lol

14 frees to 9 in Hawthorn favour

And even Eddie is calling out the ones they are missing

F... I hate those cheating maggots

Unfortunately I couldn't go to the game today and I have no vision of it.ย  I am listening to 3AW. They are saying Melbourne are not getting rewarded in the free kick department. Like usual.ย

OH FFS - 50 metres penalty in front of goal again. Free Kick Hawthorn alive and well!!

Harmes was 1 metre away when the mark was taken. What could he do?

Going to need to take our chances a bit better, but fingers crossed they can keep up the pressure, at least.

We were no where near the protected area then... [censored] rort

Omac cant even get off the ground.ย  Not even VFL level.ย  Harmes 2nd incursion.ย  What a horrible play on from Clarry

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourneโ€™s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle.ย As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nationโ€™s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.ย

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
