Very uninspired by these inclusions. I’d be surprised if we get within 10 goals of Richmond.

Looking at their forward line vs our named back 6 (excluding Salem who can play) this could get incredibly ugly

I am seriously in two minds about dragging myself out on Wednesday night. This is usually my favourite match of the season but there is only so much a supporter can take. I am still flat after Saturday nights loss so I am not sure I can put myself through that again in one week.

Think I will decide on the night.

bought some reserved seats but feeling the same way

after living through Neeld, I never thought I'd see "long down the line to Jamar" as our main defensive transition "strategy". But that was all we had against StK (s/Jamar/Gawn/g).

hugely disappointing - the losses under early Roos were ok - we could see what was happening and the defensive effort.

this is dross.

Very rarely in my 28 years following this mob have I missed a game I can get to. I sat through almost ever Neeld mauling to the end, usually after a bad loss I vow not to return next week but as the week draws to a close I always give in... Short turn around has me still [censored] off so not going tomorrow night, unheard of for me. Travelled to Sydney only 2 weeks ago, they’ve lost me & will take a lot to get me back in the short term

Which is such a shame, I suspect I am not the only one, this game at the start of the year should have been pushing 100k, club hasn’t held up there end. Be lucky to get 70k

Too many Holy Grail types at Dees , Clearly

Yep we will make some changes , chuck out lesser Lights but blokes who REALLY let us down

Blew the cobwebs off - Should be lightning quick after a 4-day turnaround

Going tomorrow feels like an actual chore. I’ve lost all interest.

Neal Bullen and Tim Smith in for us. Jack Reiwoldt in for Tigers. Life is so great when you’re a Melbourne supporter!

Oh and Goodwin will never have the guts to drop Lewis just like he will never drop Hibbo or TMac who are both barely going. I suppose when the cupboard is bare you gotta make do with what you have.

Not too disappointed by the ins although I’m not an ANB or a Tim Smith fan. But unless TMac plays back, we will get absolutely mauled by their forward line. If I  have to watch Hore or, heaven forbid, Hibberd pretending to be KPD on one of their guns I will vomit.

Im not feeling overly enthused about going either but I better make the effort...we need a couple of fans to show up even if the players don't! Hoping for a competitive effort as we'd need an absolute miracle to win...

I like the theme of the changes - we have brought in five blokes who can either give us some run or go hard at the contest. I think adding Jeffy is a smart move and I'm hoping to see Smith provide a couple of goals and some pressure when the ball hits the deck.

It’s so true. His press conference comments about owing Lewis loyalty for what he’d contributed at Melbourne (and Hawthorn ffs) says it all in my opinion. He won’t make the tough calls on guys like Lewis, Jones and even Hibberd until too late.

I was feeling the same way yesterday but I’ll be heading to the G.  The night is a great event and hopefully they put in more of an effort

It willl be a very satisfying victory if we can get over the line.

I am cutting Lewis a bit of slack. Apart from The desperate Dees, who brings a player who has not played a game since September 2018 straight back into the side? Surely he should have had a few weeks in the two’s to get match fit. It least I know his trying, which is more than I can be sure of with a few others running around for us.

Putting ANB in is a joke. Slowness and fumbles.

Why is Smith in ahead of Kielty ?

Should have rested TMAC and given petty a game.

Why is lewis playing ?

At least Stretch, Garlett and Lockard will inject some pace.

Now, if we could just use it to advantage... ?

I have the next 2 days off but would prefer to sit in front of the mirror and slowly insert toothpicks into my eyes than watch what promises to be a mauling live. In fact i will be doing my best to avoid watching on TV as well. Maybe the odd score-check until the game is obviously done and dusted just to save my family from my foul mood.

Cant believe how quickly the team has turned my confidence into utter despair.

Would actually like to see ANB played in the centre square and given the freedom to run all over the ground. Test some of the Tigers mids for fitness. I know he'll be ineffective with the ball but it's not like we are dominating clearances as is.

Then our actual mids can all spend more time resting forward and play at a higher work rate when in the middle.

The wings have copped a lot of the blame for the lack of transition running but if you watch the games it's actually Oliver, Brayshaw and Viney who are even further behind play. Harmes is about the only one sticking with it.

He is a running machine, they could do a lot worse.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
