So [censored] [censored] off Joel Smith is potentially going to miss this game due to our medical or coaching staff leaving him out there for the rest of the game only to aggravate it even more.

I would be absolutely filthy if i was Joel  [censored] poor management.

Hard to fathom that they put his start to the season in jeopardy in a practice match.

I know we were down on numbers but still...

I wouldn't have Smith starting even if he were fit. Our forward line would be too tall with tmac, weideman, petracca already down there. We need to be able to retain the ball in our forward line rather than see it rebound straight out.

Would love to see him in the midfield, showed some dash against Brisbane in the JLT.

Hunt also up forward please.

He is tall but he has great closing speed, provides pretty good defensive pressure and is pretty handy below his knees. I don't think he would be left out for the reasons you list. That being said he is a little too inconsistent still and could not be considered a certain starter regardless of his groin.

It did seem a poor decision, but let's not pretend Joel Smith is an irreplaceable player.  He's far from that.

So if Goody wanted a third tall, who would it be? Both Smiths injured, Preuss injured. Max will play 90% ruck. Keilty?

Light duties don't worry me.

I do think this is a reflection of the late start to pre-season and the plethora of surgeries over the off season.  We might start a little slowly, but I still expect us to roll Port at the 'G.  Geelong at whatever the hell it's called stadium is a tougher prospect.

Petracca and Melksham are good contested players and good overhead.

If he really wanted a third tall he could play Fritsch forward.

We have enough versatlity to cover a player of Smith's standing.

I’d throw Joel smith in the ruck for center bounces and the odd ball up (he’ll get monstered at boundary throw ins). He can use his leap to full advantage and leave Tmac and Weid forward.

He can still be the third tall this way.

Said the session went for 1hr, these are called flush sessions, no idea why

Believe they got hammered on Friday,  so maybe just a leg turnover

Not bothered who was there or not, will see Wednesday

Would be surprised if he made it as a forward.   Would like it to work though.

Not sure where the goals are coming from this week , No Garlett Hogan has gone

melkshem unlikely no Hannan . Captains underdone and doubtful.

We can all obviously save ourselves a fortune on medical diagnosis etc., just run whatever ails you past the experts on Demonland.

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

    TRAINING: Wednesday 11th December 2024

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
