Hi Admin

anything you guys can do to avoid RFC banner ads on Demonland - it’s offensive .

thiight they were related to browsing history but I’ve never browsed that kind of dirty trash before

I for one am perfectly happy for Richmond to subsidize Demonland. :D Personally I find Richmond quite ignorable.

The algorithm for which ads you get served isn't solely based on browser history. The advertiser might have certain search words that this site being an AFL footy related site match. Or perhaps the tigers are trying to convert non-believers.

The best way not to see any ads at all is to support Demonland by taking out a Subscription which removes the ads entirely.

I agree that it’s wrong on environmental grounds to encourage any Tiger fan who wanders here to buy a membership. When those plastic cards go into the microwave after we give them a whopping on Anzac Eve, then we will surely be responsible for releasing all of those smouldering plastic fumes into the atmosphere?

Aha! That explains why I only get ads for porn sites.

I encourage everyone to click on it as many times as possible.  They can pollute our screens for free, but as soon as anyone clicks on it they pay money.  I’m sure we can ensure they make a loss in 2019

I just subscribed, and I asked Admin how many Demonlanders there were and how many were subscribers. I was surprised by the response:

"There are over 5,000 registered members of Demonland. About 280 are subscribers. These numbers don't take into account guests who visit the site but have never signed up. More guests are reading the site at any one time than members reading the site."

It would be nice for the percentage of subscribers to increase to support the running of this site. I mean we all enjoy it, but only about 5% are financially supporting it. With a lifetime membership of only $60, that, for some of the younger ones on here will work out to be about $1 a year. Where else can you get such great entertainment for just $1 a year?

Let alone politics free literary genius......

I encourage everyone to sign up. I got horribly drunk a while back and attempted to buy a life membership, but the payment process glitched and it didn't go through. I couldn't change my mind when i sobered up as that would have made me feel, ..... dirty?

Anyway, i feel slightly less  bannable with "Life Member" next to my name. Most likely a false sense of security, but i am happy to run with it :)

If you can afford it, i think it makes sense to add it to your support of MFC. Life membership is a long time for most people.

*I expect Demonland to add an extra thousand or so likes to my total for this shameless plug

Amazed there is so few members, more so sad. This is a great site for fans and regular readers and readers should show some support to Andy and subscribe.

Surely the cost of servicing the Range Rover is not so much that we can’t have more members here...

Happy to have signed up and to support Andy.   Also happy that when my wife looks over my shoulder at what I'm doing she doesn't see those annoying Dating site ads targeted at old people!

I have subscribed before.. a couple of times.

But then get hounded for some profanity which everyone does now...  but the site filter blanks them out. and they continue on without any land comments.

I've been hounded by the likes of that whiny rhino, for daring to be different to his views...  I've been suspended/banned for daring to resist the ideas that treat women different to men, that they deserve more respect...

I differ, after being abused and molested by that same gender.  And then get banned.

I have already payed many times, including donating to resurrect Demonology...  when it was offline.

I have subscribed, and without any income... no pension no dole nothing. no income of any sort with the interest rates.

Living off the bank account, until I run out, of time.

You were justifiably banned.

Great site as we all know.

Please support and every now and then send a donation to keep the wonderful work going.

I find the match day threads particularly therapeutic.

One only has to look at the podcast guests to understand the actual not to mention potential reach a site such as this can have.

Thanks Andy and Nasher and all those who keep the site ticking over.

PS: I found this site around 2001 or slightly after so it has become part of my MFC life. Most posters are courteous and it's great to get different views. Long may it prosper.

I think when you consider the time and efforts that go into running a website like this one it makes sense to subscribe or donate. I've been on DL a long time and although I've had on-off periods on here it's always been there and I'm grateful for that.

The site is run by great people and we are getting more and more brilliant content all the time with things like the podcast which has become a staple for me during the week.

Every bit counts, doesn't take much.

Click on the ads and do your bit to waste their advertising budget.

I initially read this as "the cost of servicing Range Rover" and thought that the post was something to do with the site's administrators dealing with one of Demonland's posters who seemed to require significant amounts of moderation.

(People who have been on Demonland for a while will know what I'm talking about.)

Haha I think $60 barely covers the cost of brake light bulb on a Jaguar

Join the hunt ?? Who the hell wants to do that ??

I wish Richmond supporters had aphrodisiac qualities, then they could stop shooting  the real tigers and just 'go', the Tiger supporting ferals.   Win/ Win

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.
