I reckon Port will be a discombobulated rabble this coming season, I envisage a 15 goal win in round 1. #Bookmarkit.

Oh dear this is the kind of "getting ahead of ourselves" mentality that has brought this club to its knees over and over again

Rest assured they will,  like every other team come out firing and will be desperate to get a win in round 1 - it will not be easy  #bookmarkit

They have some quality players - if we are not 100% focused and committed a loss is definitely on the cards

I fail to see how my post influences the performance of the team.

My point was if the team shares your overconfidence they are very likely going to get belted - simple really

I certainly hope they don't because it would be completely ill founded at this stage

My God underselling your powers, I am shocked

This is Demonland, there are posters on here who know so much more than the coaches we have, the coaches make sure they read Demonland to ensure they don't let their inadequacies fail the team

There are always surprise results in rounds 1 & 2.

I hope the boys just go out and play good hard footy & if they get the chance to put their foot on Port's throat that they do it BIG time!

There's nothing better than gathering momentum early!

We will win this by 100 without breaking a sweat.

Already looking to Round 2.

Been saying it for years.

Finally we see eye to eye!

I am surprised that the coaches and selection committees have not yet asked my opinion.  Or opinions they change regularly!

Perhaps I should call them to make sure they have my phone number.....

not sure.            Go Dees

If my memory isn't completely stuffed I believe I envisaged a similar result against the same opponent in the first round some seasons back. Virtually the opposite thing happened. Let's not hatchet our Counts before they turn chicken.

Trac to kick 6 and we'll win by 8 goals.

Any word on Charlie Dixon’s recovery from a broken leg?

Wines, Polec, Wingard and maybe Dixon would be handy outs from the side that beat us last year.

Mind you they’ll include Hartlett and Lycett into the side.

Nah! 15  goals doesn't do it for me lets go for ....Let's see 30 maybe 40 goals ? Oh !   can you dream the dream  E T.

Round 1 had a pattern of delivering some of the most miserable moments during our most miserable period, so I'm still a little wary of it.

But... on the one hand I'm much more confident in our team's ability, and on the other hand I'm much more confident that our team has the resilience to carry on with a strong season even if we do stuff up round 1.

It is a bit like, I'm looking forward to round one as a big deal, but only because it is the start of the season, not because I feel like it is any particularly crucial, tone-setting game.

Ninety to hundred would pay about 33/1 i reckon. Well worth a half pi33ed bet with the mates.

Watts after an at times distracting and turbulent off season will be coming in really hot, frothing one might say, eyes rolling back in his head looking to rack up and power Port into a 10 goal drubbing.

@MurDoc516

I will buy you a crayfish lunch (or any lunch of your choice and any amount of drinks of your choice) if Petracca kicks 6 goals in a game in his entire career...you can make me accountable anytime if it happens (I presume I'll be celebrating as I will be stoked for the boy)....

First hit out for the season.. both teams would need to iron out some wrinkles, and get used to a new set of rules if anything - I hope I can get down for Rd 1! But, Port do have a team of champions right?

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
